The Technical Advisor role is crucial for maintaining a strong technical foundation for client recommendations. This role supports vCIOs and Customer Success Managers by conducting discoveries, accurately scoping work, and ensuring client environments meet the Tenom standard in infrastructure, security, and policies. The position aims to ground recommendations in technical reality, make complex environments understandable, and keep clients prepared for future technological advancements. This role is based out of the Ottawa or Toronto office with a hybrid work environment requiring 3 days in the office.

Requirements

  • Post-Secondary Education including a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • Proven experience (3+ years) in a technology consulting or advisory role, preferably within the IT services industry.
  • Strong knowledge of IT infrastructure, systems, security, and emerging technologies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and effectively collaborate with clients.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze complex technology environments, conduct root cause analysis, and provide strategic recommendations.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with budgeting and resource planning for IT initiatives.
  • Ability to stay up to date with industry trends, regulations, and best practices.
  • Experience working with Microsoft 365, Intune/Endpoint Management, etc.
  • Experience designing a scalable Azure Environment.
  • A valid driver's license is required for any required on site client visits.

Nice To Haves

  • Additional technical certifications or advanced degrees are a plus.
  • ITIL or relevant certifications are advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Complete ITSF (IT Success Formula) discoveries to build a comprehensive picture of each client's environment — infrastructure, applications, security, and alignment to business objectives.
  • Identify gaps, risks, and opportunities against the Tenom standard.
  • Join scoping calls to vet potential work, define the outcome being delivered, and clarify what a project actually requires.
  • Own the ongoing health and documentation of client-managed assets, keeping endpoints, network devices, and infrastructure patched, configured, and accounted for.
  • Measure and ensure the client environment meets the Tenom standards through evaluation and implementation of patches, configurations, policies, etc...
  • Conduct root cause analysis on recurring tickets to surface underlying issues before they compound.
  • Identify trends across the client base and partner with the Service Delivery Manager to implement preventive measures and improve service delivery.
  • Translate the technical picture into roadmap recommendations the CSM and vCIO can stand behind — covering feasibility, sequencing, and alignment to the Tenom operating model.
  • Collaborate with vCIOs on IT strategy and provide input on budgeting and investment prioritization.
  • Help clients understand the real financial impact of their technology decisions.
  • Proactively identify where clients are falling behind and develop strategies to close the gap.
  • Stay current on industry standards, emerging technologies, and compliance requirements to keep clients ahead of what's coming.
  • Ensure client environments meet the Tenom standard technology posture.
