Technical Accounting Manager

Evergreen Services GroupColumbus, OH
$140,000 - $165,000Onsite

About The Position

Evergreen Services Group is a San Francisco-based holding company that acquires and operates B2B services companies across North America. Since its founding in late 2017, Evergreen has completed 100+ acquisitions across Managed IT Services, Cybersecurity, ERP Software Partners and Government Services. We are driven by a people-first mission to be the best home for businesses and their leaders, by marrying capital allocation with inspired operations. The Evergreen holding company team is comprised of 40+ professionals based in San Francisco who are focused on capital allocation, M&A, executive level hiring, strategic board leadership, and finance and accounting. Evergreen is a uniquely long-term oriented holding company that seeks to hold and grow businesses indefinitely rather than follow the 5-7 year holding period of a typical private equity fund. This allows us to take a truly long-term view on performance and people. Evergreen is backed by Alpine Investors, a leading private equity firm focused on the services and software industries with $16B+ in AUM. As we continue to grow through acquisition, we're looking for a Technical Accounting Manager to own the acquisition accounting and integration onboarding work that comes with every deal — from opening balance sheet review, cash-to-GAAP transition, and through complex standalone technical positions prepared on behalf of the consolidated group. This role sits at the intersection of deep technical GAAP expertise and program leadership. You'll be the person who makes sure every acquisition is accounted for correctly on day one, and who runs the onboarding program that integrates newly acquired companies into our accounting and reporting function. You'll partner closely with the Assistant Controller, Grove accounting teams, advisory and valuation partners, and external auditors, as the go-to technical resource for the broader F&A organization.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, with a background in public accounting (Big 4 or mid-size firm preferred), consulting, and/or industry
  • Extensive experience preparing and reviewing ASC 805 materials, and comfort navigating other complex technical matters (ASC 606, 350, 810, 718)
  • An owner who rolls up their sleeves; this is a hands-on technical role, not purely oversight
  • A leader who influences without direct authority — this role has no direct reports today, but you'll set the technical agenda for every deal, direct cross-functional teams (Grove accounting, valuation advisors, auditors) through each onboarding cycle, and mentor accounting team members across the portfolio on complex GAAP matters
  • Thrives in ambiguity — comfortable building process in a fast-paced, high-deal-volume environment
  • Translates complex accounting into language non-accounting stakeholders can act on, while demonstrating strong executive presence with auditors and leadership

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in a PE-backed, multi-acquisition-volume environment is a plus
  • CPA required
  • Experience with Business Central, OneStream, Power BI, and/or FloQast a plus

Responsibilities

  • Lead the review of ASC 805 opening balance sheets and purchase price allocations for all acquisitions
  • Coordinate with third-party valuation providers and review their fair value analyses for reasonableness and consistency with GAAP
  • Own and continuously improve the onboarding program for newly acquired operating companies, including the playbook, timeline, and standard deliverables used across every transaction
  • Serve as the technical accounting lead throughout the acquisition lifecycle — from diligence support through close and post-close reporting
  • Build repeatable frameworks and templates that scale as deal volume increases
  • Draft and own technical accounting memos covering complex, judgment-heavy areas, including ASC 805, and: Carve-out and push-down accounting for necessary standalone financials, Complex revenue recognition under ASC 606, including new revenue streams, new industries, and multi-currency/foreign operations as the portfolio expands internationally, Goodwill, reporting unit determination, and going concern assessments, PCC (Private Company Council) election evaluations and unwinds, Other non-routine transactions as they arise (debt modification, equity/PIU arrangements, foreign currency, etc.)
  • Serve as the go-to technical resource for Grove accounting teams on GAAP questions arising from acquisitions
  • Support the external audit process on all M&A-related technical positions

Benefits

  • full medical and dental coverage
  • unlimited PTO
  • 401(k) match
  • family planning support
