About The Position

The Technical Writer is responsible for researching and translating technical information into operational and maintenance manuals and/or web-based documents for non-technical and technical users. This role involves understanding technical concepts of the program and translating them into understandable text and graphics, working closely with hardware engineering to write operational and maintenance manuals, and developing technical manuals to meet customer format requirements. The Technical Writer will also communicate with company personnel and customers on the progress of technical manual development, work closely with technical publications to develop train-the-trainer courseware, and be responsible for conducting structured classroom instruction and simulator On-the-Job Training (OJT) for all aspects of operation and maintenance of the simulator and its associated equipment. Additionally, the Technical Writer will develop all training materials using in-house/vendor provided documentation.

Requirements

  • 3+ years experience as a technical writer or instructor
  • Bachelor’s degree in Technical Writing, English, Communications a plus.
  • Due to U.S. Government contract requirements, only U.S. citizens are eligible for this role.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite Word required.
  • Must be able to obtain a Security Clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to read/understand electrical and mechanical drawings, parts lists, and system indices a plus.
  • Experience authoring/editing technical manuals for the military.
  • Familiar with publications lifecycle from gathering sources, to writing outlines, to delivering the final product.
  • Excellent verbal and written (writing, editing, proofreading, and page composition) communications skills
  • PTC Arbortext Editor experience a plus.
  • Familiarity with hardware CAD tools a plus.
  • Experience with Adobe suite a plus.
  • Experience within the operation and maintenance of full-flight simulators preferable.
