About The Position

This position involves authoring and delivering high-quality documentation and code samples for Amazon EC2. The role requires working with customer data, gathering feedback, and using insights to continuously improve content. A key aspect is developing and driving content strategy in alignment with engineering product strategy, becoming an expert in areas of ownership, and acting as the first 'customer' by providing technical feedback on new features and workflows to enhance the customer experience. Collaboration with other writers and editors to refine writing processes and approaches is essential. The role also includes engaging with stakeholders to understand documentation needs, designing content plans for complex technical subjects, and developing scripts, tools, or processes to boost team efficiency. Influencing product improvements and customer experience through UX reviews and contributions, as well as driving tactical and strategic technical documentation projects and coaching/mentoring others, are also core responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent degree in Technical Writing, Computer Science, or a related field and one year of experience in the job offered or a related occupation.
  • Five years of experience in the job offered or a related occupation as equivalent to a Bachelor's degree and one year of experience.
  • One year of experience in designing and producing content for a technical audience, such as Software Engineers, System Administrators, or IT professionals.
  • One year of experience using content publishing tools to write, format, manage, and publish technical content on the web.
  • One year of working knowledge of at least two of the following programmer languages: Python, Java, C#, Node.js, or C/C++.

  • Be the first "customer" - use subject-matter expertise to review planning and design documents to provide technical feedback on new features and workflows to improve the customer experience.
  • Work with other writers and editors to improve how we write, and evolve how we approach writing as a team.
  • Engage with stakeholders to understand documentation needs.
  • Design content plans for complex technical subject matter.
  • Develop scripts, tools, or processes that improve team efficiency and productivity.
  • Influence product improvements and customer experience through UX reviews and contributions.
  • Drive tactical and strategic technical documentation projects.
  • Coach and mentor others.
