About The Position

This position is responsible for performing various clinical tasks within the Women's Care Center, promoting good public relations, and ensuring patient confidentiality. The role involves obtaining and recording vital signs, assisting with patient rooming and data collection, supporting diagnostic tests and procedures, and collaborating with the healthcare team to deliver quality patient care. The technician will also perform specific clinical skills such as EKGs and phlebotomy, manage patient care equipment, and maintain a clean and safe environment. Additionally, the role includes patient education, accurate record-keeping, specimen labeling, and participating in quality improvement initiatives and professional development.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Previous nursing experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Promotes good public relations for Physician Services.
  • Respects the confidentiality of patient, hospital, and physician related information.
  • Obtains and records temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure and weights as ordered.
  • Reports abnormal intake/output/vital signs/elimination or any change in patient condition to provider.
  • Assists in rooming patients and collects and documents patient data correctly.
  • Assists with diagnostic tests, special procedures and specimen collection as required.
  • Communicates and collaborates with health care team members to provide quality patient care.
  • Competently performs core and unit specific clinical skills (i.e., EKGs and Phlebotomy).
  • Knowledgeable of proper and safe use of patient care equipment.
  • Utilizes basic problem solving skills to prevent/resolve issues.
  • Explains procedures and treatments to patient prior to initiation and participates in instruction as necessary.
  • Records all care provided in a clean and accurate manner.
  • Knows the proper collection tubes for all tests routinely ordered.
  • Identifies all patients as to their name and date of birth, also labels specimens accurately.
  • Maintains department in a clean, safe, neat, and orderly condition.
  • Maintains established department policies, procedures, objectives, quality assurance and safety procedures.
  • Participates in quality improvement program as needed.
  • Assumes responsibility for professional development on the job.
  • Assists in answering patient phone calls and documents appropriately.
  • Assists in patient care as directed.
  • Demonstrates ability to process clinical data and communicate to the Medical Staff in order to make sound clinical decisions.
