About The Position

The Patient Care Technician delivers direct patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, performing duties in accordance with the Maryland Board of Nursing-Nurse Practice Act. Key responsibilities include obtaining vital signs, assisting with specimen collection and phlebotomy, providing comfort measures, monitoring and documenting patient conditions, supporting various medical procedures, and ensuring patient safety and dignity. Additional tasks involve preparing equipment, performing post-mortem care, initiating CPR when required, adhering to infection control protocols, completing accurate documentation, and contributing to staff orientation and ongoing education. This full-time role demands effective collaboration with the healthcare team to uphold high standards of patient care.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • Maryland Nursing Assistant Certification.
  • Completion of an approved training program (hospital-based program, community college, Emergency Medical Technician, or Medical Corpsmen).
  • Equivalent on-the-job training may be considered in lieu of formal training.
  • Proficiency in applying universal safety precautions.
  • Ability to respond effectively in emergency situations.
  • Ability to deliver care that addresses the unique needs of diverse patient populations across all age groups.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.

Nice To Haves

  • A minimum of one year of recent direct patient care experience.
  • Current CPR certification.
