Requirements

  • High School graduate or GED
  • Hold a valid driver's license
  • Ability to obtain a CDL (class B) license and a Pennsylvania driver's medical card
  • Ability to successfully complete industry approved corrosion control classes leading to certification, e.g., NACE Coating Inspector, Cathodic Protection Tester (Level 1)
  • Ability to obtain a Transportation Workers Identity Card (TWIC)
  • Maintain Fitness for Duty standards per company guidelines
  • Ability to learn to read and interpret mechanical drawings & equipment instruction books
  • Ability to learn to read & interpret wiring and electrical schematics and diagrams
  • Ability to work at heights to sixty feet or more from ladders, aerial man lifts, or bucket trucks
  • Ability to enter manholes
  • Work in severe weather conditions

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to use MS Windows based computer programs
  • Must pass a CAST test
  • A CDL - Class A license
  • Underground electric experience
  • Corrosion / cathodic protection experience
  • NACE / AMPP certifications
  • Ability to use MS Windows based computer programs

Responsibilities

  • Follow all safety rules and procedures along with verbal and written directions from supervision.
  • Proficient at circuit print, design, diagram, and map reading
  • Understand and perform preventative, corrective, and predictive maintenance tasks on transmission-class underground equipment including troubleshooting
  • Safely operate transmission-class underground equipment such as oil pumping stations and related valving, oil movement, alarm systems, cathodic protection systems, etc.
  • Plan, prepare, and coordinate work using established procedures, standards, processes, and a variety of computer software, e.g., Cascade, AS8
  • Respond to call/outs/emergencies/storm duty on a 24 x 7 basis and perform shift work and overtime as needed.
  • Seek out and adopt new innovative technologies.
  • PECO LOTO qualified, meets substation entry requirements and is an electrically qualified worker for transmission equipment, lines, and voltages up to 230kV.
  • Provides oversite for contractors performing work on the transmission system.
  • Provides inspection and/or safety watchman services of contractor/customer personnel working near transmission lines and/or equipment.
