About The Position

This is a confidential search for a high-growth AI SaaS company, Inc. 5000 ranked, that has scaled 2,400% over three years and is expanding into large enterprise markets. The platform is production-proven, the team is lean and technical, and this TLM role carries direct influence over architecture, hiring, and product direction. Client identity is shared in the first conversation. Write production code and own architecture at a platform that has scaled 2,400% in three years. At $220K–$280K base + 5% equity, this role is for the engineer who is ready to lead without stepping back from the work. This role is a hybrid of technical leadership and people management, with approximately 70% technical responsibilities and 30% people leadership.

Requirements

7+ years of hands-on software engineering with a strong full-stack background: modern frontend (React, TypeScript) and backend (Ruby, Python, or Node.js); proven experience designing and operating distributed systems at scale with RESTful APIs, PostgreSQL, and cloud-native architecture (Kubernetes, containerization, microservices).
2+ years of engineering management or tech lead experience with direct reports, mentorship, and team-level delivery ownership.
Solid engineering fundamentals across the full lifecycle: testing (Jest, Cypress, or React Testing Library), code review, CI/CD, TDD, design documentation, and performance monitoring.
Deep frontend fluency in component architecture, state management, performance, and accessibility.
Ability to translate complex technical concepts clearly for both engineers and non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

Own architecture and delivery of full-stack features from ReactJS/TypeScript UIs to backend services, APIs, and distributed data pipelines, on a platform that enterprise workforce planning teams depend on every day.
Design and build scalable data processing pipelines (batch and streaming) and distributed backend systems using PostgreSQL, Redis, and Kubernetes.
Set the technical bar across the team: lead architecture reviews, own code quality and performance standards, drive CI/CD and TDD practices, and stay hands-on through the full software lifecycle including on-call.
Manage, mentor, and grow a team of engineers. Own hiring, career development, and day-to-day delivery.
Partner with Product and Design to scope technical plans and communicate progress, risks, and trade-offs to leadership.
