About The Position

Anthropic is hiring a senior data science leader for its Core Apps product team. The role supports the company’s mission to build reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems by driving data-informed decisions across the organization. As a strategic thought partner to Core Apps product leads, you will help shape product direction for Claude Code and other new initiatives, including where to invest, how to grow the Apps business, and how to deliver more value to users. As a tech lead manager, you will lead a small team of Product Data Scientists, set its agenda, and raise the standard for how data informs product decisions. You will guide the team in identifying high-impact work, defining success measures, conducting rigorous analysis and experimentation, and building the data practices and analytics infrastructure needed to support rapid product iteration. The role requires translating complex analyses into clear recommendations for senior leadership and cross-functional partners.

Requirements

Extensive data science experience, including leading analytics for a product area at significant scale.
At least 3 years of experience managing data science teams, including setting team direction and developing senior data scientists.
Experience serving as a trusted partner to senior product and business leaders, with examples of changing a roadmap or high-stakes decision.
Strong product sense and business judgment, including the ability to frame the right question and take a position with incomplete information.
Deep expertise in experimental design, causal inference, and statistical modeling at high scale.
Fluency in Python and SQL sufficient to remain hands-on and guide others’ technical work.
Clear written and presentation communication skills, including communication with executive audiences.
Bias for action and ability to thrive in ambiguous, fast-moving environments while creating clarity and driving progress.

Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience.
A field of study relevant to the role, demonstrated through coursework, training, or professional experience.

Responsibilities

Partner with Core Apps product leads to shape product strategy, roadmap priorities, and major bets.
Set the Core Apps data science agenda, determining where the Product Data Science team can have the greatest impact and what it should deprioritize.
Manage and develop a small team of Product Data Scientists, coaching them to shape decisions rather than only answer questions.
Frame important and ambiguous business questions, size opportunities, and make clear recommendations, including recommendations that challenge current direction.
Define how Core Apps measures success by establishing core metrics and measurement frameworks.
Set standards for experimentation and causal inference across Core Apps, and personally lead the highest-stakes analyses.
Turn complex analyses into clear narratives and recommendations that drive decisions with senior leadership and cross-functional partners.
Establish foundational data practices and shape the analytics infrastructure Core Apps needs for rapid iteration and decision-making.
