Under direct supervision, this role utilizes the PACS system to transmit and print/burn CDs of patient imaging studies, transports and assists patients, assists in lifting and moving patients, and files x-ray jackets. Performs routine clerical duties such as preparing charts for Interventional procedures, obtaining pertinent patient information (demographics, financial data) and entering it into the computer. This role also provides necessary patient preparation for procedures, works with Radiologists and Nurses to schedule interventional cases, and prepares and processes initial paperwork and identification bands. Schedules exams for multiple modalities including PT/CT, CT, MRI, NM, US, Angio, X-ray, and Mammography. Requires a friendly and professional phone voice. The role obtains authorizations, provides necessary billing codes for physicians' offices, and assesses medical necessity for Medicare patients. It also obtains required signatures and collects copies of insurance, Medicare, and Medical cards, following regulations for Medicare Secondary Payer and the Three-day rule. The position requires the ability to demonstrate knowledge and skills for age-appropriate patient care. Primary duties include scheduling exams with MD offices, obtaining authorizations and DI orders, providing CPT codes, and obtaining ICD-9 codes for Medicare patients. It involves interviewing and pre-registering patients for various modalities to obtain accurate demographic information and entering it into the computer system. The role maintains contact with diabetic patients having PET/CT daily for glucose readings. It registers, interviews, and screens patients into ITS and Meditech systems. It coordinates child/adult sedation with anesthesiology, surgery scheduling, and DI/OR nurses. It reviews DI orders for the following day, verifies orders coincide with scheduled exams, and enters exams into the computer system. Prepares charts for Interventional procedures, necessary paperwork, consents, questionnaires, and identification bands. Prepares schedules for technologists and radiologists. Greets, registers, and obtains insurance and identification cards, determining patient's primary and secondary payor. Initiates and explains required documents, consents, and registration demographics with the patient, obtaining signatures. May transport patients by wheelchair, stretcher, or walking, and assist with lifting and moving patients. Answers all telephone calls promptly and courteously. Performs miscellaneous duties such as filing x-ray jackets and printing/burning CDs. Assists physicians with viewing images on the PACS system, records subpoenas and legal documentation, and assists technologists with patient flow. Scans signed MD orders. Performs other duties as assigned.
