Under direct supervision, this role utilizes the PACS system to transmit and print/burn CDs of patient imaging studies, transports and assists patients, and aids in lifting and moving patients. Responsibilities include filing x-ray jackets and performing routine clerical duties such as preparing charts for Interventional procedures. The role involves obtaining pertinent patient information, including demographics and financial data, and entering it into the computer system. This position works with Radiologists and Nurses to schedule interventional cases, prepares and processes initial paperwork and identification bands, and schedules exams for multiple modalities. A friendly and professional phone voice is essential. The role also involves obtaining authorizations, providing necessary billing codes for physician offices, and assessing medical necessity for Medicare patients. It requires obtaining required signatures and collecting copies of insurance, Medicare, and Medical cards, while adhering to regulations for Medicare Secondary Payer and the Three-day rule. The position holder must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. Primary duties include scheduling exams with MD offices, obtaining authorizations and DI orders, and providing necessary CPT and ICD-9 codes for Medicare patients. The role involves interviewing and pre-registering patients for various imaging procedures to obtain accurate demographic information and entering it into the computer system. It also includes providing patients with necessary preparation for procedures and maintaining contact with diabetic patients scheduled for PET/CT. The position registers, interviews, and screens patients into ITS and Meditech systems, coordinates child/adult sedation, and reviews DI orders for the following day. Responsibilities extend to entering exams into the computer system, preparing charts for Interventional procedures, and preparing schedules for technologists and radiologists. The role involves greeting, registering, and obtaining necessary insurance and identification cards from patients, determining primary and secondary payors, and initiating and explaining required documents and consents. Patient transport via wheelchair, stretcher, or walking may be required, as well as assisting patients with lifting and moving. Answering telephone calls promptly and courteously is crucial. Miscellaneous duties include filing x-ray jackets, printing/burning CDs, assisting physicians with viewing images on the PACS system, recording subpoenas and legal documentation, assisting technologists with patient flow, and scanning signed MD orders. The role requires the ability to demonstrate knowledge and skill appropriate to the population served.
