This role is for a Tech Agronomist III in the New York, New England Region.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Experience in agronomy, sales, field development, or research and development roles
  • Ability to lift to 60 lbs (a bag of seed)
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Driving record (MVR) will be reviewed and must meet company guidelines
  • Possess a DOT Driver medical card or the ability to obtain one
  • Must be able to meet all applicable DOT/FMCSA criteria

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in agriculture or related discipline with 7+ years of experience in agronomy, sales, field development, or research and development roles
  • Master’s degree in agriculture or related discipline with at least 4+ years of experience in agronomy, sales, field development, or research and development roles
  • Ph.D. in agriculture or related discipline with at least 3+ years of experience in agronomy, sales, field development, or research and development roles
  • Reside in NY
  • Willing to travel

Responsibilities

  • Plan and execute field-scale testing programs, including field testing of commercial Bayer seed products and Ground Breaker trials for new product launches from all platforms.
  • Collaborate with Seed Dealers/growers to plant trials, collect required data, maintain, and harvest trials.
  • Provide technical support and training for seed dealers and the Bayer sales team.
  • Work with the Bayer sales team to achieve local business objectives through technical support, consultation, and training.
  • Provide strategic seed dealer support based on business priorities.
  • Establish and execute effective communication and training strategies with Seed Dealers.
  • Provide technical information for seed, trait, and chemistry products.
  • Communicate the agronomic positioning and benefits of seed and trait products, and the benefits and uses of crop protection products.
  • Develop and instill confidence in product recommendations and Tailored Solutions.
  • Provide sales and business support.
  • Create an annual Agronomy Business Plan for communication and alignment with the Sales Team, including strategies and prioritized activities to achieve business objectives.
  • Manage the area's impact on business results for the Sales Team.
  • Plan and execute tactics to support identified business strategies and objectives.
  • Actively participate in local portfolio management and future year forecasting.
  • Assume Sales Team and/or Agronomy Team project leadership roles.
  • Build a profile as a technical expert in the territory.
  • Build presence and credibility with key growers, seed dealers, crop consultants, and other key third-party stakeholders.
  • Comply with Bayer safety and vehicle safety policies.
  • Be responsible for product stewardship and use recommendations for the local territory.
  • Maintain key customer and stakeholder relationships and company image.
  • Drive a company vehicle (pooled or assigned). This may include driving greater than 7,500 business miles annually in a personal, pooled, or rented vehicle or frequently driving a pooled car as part of job duties.
  • Potentially operate under DOT/FMCSA jurisdiction, which may require a CDL and hauling trailers, product, supplies, or equipment.
