About The Position

Dauphin County Clerk of Courts is currently accepting applications for the full-time position of Teamsters Clerk III. An employee in this position is responsible for receiving documents from the lower court and entering them into the computer to create cases at the Common Pleas level of court, answering phones, filing, accepting electronic filings and assisting clients at the counter. He/she is also responsible for documenting court sheets and preparing court commitments for distribution to both county and state correctional institutions.

Requirements

  • Graduation from High School or an accredited equivalency program required.
  • Computer and data entry experience required.
  • A favorable criminal background is also required.
  • Must possess ability to record, convey and present information, explain procedures and follow instructions.
  • Must be able to sit for long periods throughout the workday, with intermittent periods of standing and walking and occasional periods of bending, twisting, carrying, pushing, pulling, stooping and reaching as necessary to carry out job duties.
  • Dexterity requirements range from coordinated movements of fingers/hands for computer, to simple movements of feet/legs/torso as necessary to carry out job duties.
  • Sedentary work, with occasional lifting/carrying of objects with a maximum weight of ten (10) pounds.
  • Must be able to cope with the physical and mental stress of the position.
  • Must be able to move frequently throughout the workday as needed to carry out essential job duties.
  • Must be able to pay close attention to detail and concentrate on work.
  • Must be able to multitask and prioritize workload and meet strict deadlines.
  • Must be able to work as part of a team as well as individually with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to view, listen to, analyze, and relay sensitive information that may, at times, be graphic.
  • Must possess rudimentary knowledge of office automation.
  • Must be able to speak and understand the English language and to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Must possess knowledge in the Pennsylvania Crimes Code, Rules of Criminal Procedure, Vehicle Code, and the criminal justice community in the Central Pennsylvania area.
  • Must possess interpersonal skills to interface with other members of the criminal justice community and Dauphin County government.
  • Must possess the ability to maintain confidentiality regarding criminal justice information reviewed as part of working in the Clerk of Courts Office.
  • A favorable background check is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Common Pleas Case Management System (CPCMS) experience, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Processes documents received from lower court.
  • Prepares and maintains records.
  • Receives and reviews documents for accuracy and completeness.
  • Types, prepares, and dockets cases processed through the department.
  • Collects fees and issues receipts.
  • Greets and assists clients at the counter.
  • Answer phone inquiries or directs questions to proper individuals or other departments.
  • Prepares files for scanning and docketing.
  • Assists other employees as required.
  • Ensures all duties of the department are completed in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Operates computer, scanner, copier, and other office equipment as needed.
  • Dockets and images all documents (electronic and paper) filed.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
  • Prepares and processes both state and county commitments.
