About The Position

Huskie Athletics is seeking a Physiotherapist to support and enhance the performance of our student-athletes and clients. This role offers invaluable mentorship and sport physiotherapy experience in a high-performance setting. The primary purpose is to provide high-quality, sport-focused physiotherapy expertise to Huskie student athletes and community athletes, with opportunities for mentorship related to credentialling examinations. The nature of the work involves reporting to the Huskie Health Head Therapist and collaborating with coaches, administration, and other sports medicine providers. This position requires working under pressure in a high-volume, dynamic environment with an alternative work plan that includes evening and weekend work. The intent of this position is to provide exposure and experience to sport physiotherapy.

Requirements

  • Master of Physical Therapy or Bachelor’s of Science in Physical Therapy.
  • Eligible for licensure with the Saskatchewan College of Physical Therapists.
  • Valid First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member in a fast-paced clinical setting.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge and proficiency in Electronic Medical Records.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with sideline coverage.
  • Experience working with high-performance athletes.
  • Experience with Interdisciplinary Support Team collaboration or leadership.
  • First Responder Certification.
  • Membership with the Canadian Physiotherapy Association (CPA).
  • Dry needling and/or acupuncture certification(s).
  • Commitment to professional development.

Responsibilities

  • Provide evidence-supported sport physiotherapy care to varsity athletes and clients, including pre-season clearance, emergency on-field care, assessment, rehabilitation, post-operative care, return-to-sport progressions, and injury prevention.
  • Work under the supervision of the head physiotherapist with the Huskie Health Care Coalition to collaborate in the care and management of athlete injuries for timely diagnosis and safe return to sport.
  • Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary Huskie Integrated Support Team (IST) to deliver coordinated and holistic care for team assignments.
  • Deliver physiotherapy services to clients as part of the fee-for-service program, meeting or exceeding revenue targets.
  • Effectively communicate with student-athletes to empower informed decision-making about their plan of care, demonstrate the value of services, and maintain engagement in rehabilitation.
  • Ensure adherence to Huskie Health privacy policies, professional practice guidelines, and university policies, including charting standards.
  • Communicate and act in a respectful and professional manner, collaborating effectively, abiding by policy, and contributing to a positive work and learning environment.
  • Engage in continuous learning through activities, training, and events related to Indigenous engagement, reconciliation, equity, diversity, and inclusion.
  • Demonstrate respect and dignity for all community members, actively contribute to an environment of acceptance and inclusion, and respond to different perspectives with curiosity, respect, and non-judgment.
  • Participate in mentorship opportunities for relevant credentialling examinations.
  • Undertake related duties as assigned, consistent with the nature of the position.
