Each operating area has similar essential duties and responsibilities, which are outlined in the next paragraph. Team Members will not necessarily have all of the duties and responsibilities on their first day; however, it is BLG Logistics, Inc.’s goal to cross-train Team Members in as many areas of the Operation as possible.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Skills are required to perform multiple, non-technical tasks, with a potential need to upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions.
  • Adhering to safety practices.
  • Operating equipment used in warehouse operations.
  • Operating standard office equipment, including pertinent software applications.
  • Preparing and maintaining accurate records.
  • Basic math.
  • Understand written procedures, write routine documents, and speak clearly.
  • Understand complex, multi-step written and oral instructions.
  • Basic computer use.
  • Basic vehicle maintenance.
  • Safety practices and procedures.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Regularly required to stand.
  • Frequently required to walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms.
  • Occasionally required to talk or hear.
  • Frequently lift and/or move up to 15 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Regularly required to perform overhead work.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus.

Nice To Haves

  • Forklift operating license is preferred, but on-the-job training is available.

Responsibilities

  • Following general company policies as outlined in the employee handbook.
  • Operate within work instructions.
  • Loading and unloading of trucks, order picking, repacking, packing, sequencing, labeling, shipping, and receiving.
  • Perform preventive maintenance (TPM) on shipping totes, racks, etc.
  • Maintains delivery vehicles/equipment (e.g. checking fluid levels, fueling, cleaning, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring safe operation of the vehicle/equipment.
  • Communicate with operators from other shifts.
  • Cleans operating facility for the purpose of maintaining a safe and sanitary work area. (5S)
  • Turn off and lock out equipment when not in use.
  • Move waste from work areas to dumpsters.
  • Drives vehicles (e.g. truck, van, forklift, etc.) for the purpose of transporting orders and materials to designated areas. The Team Member transports a variety of items (e.g. records/files, supplies, equipment, materials, testing materials, etc.) for the purpose of receiving and/or delivering materials as required.
  • Responsible for quality control. No damaged product is sent out. No damaged material is accepted in.
  • Package finished product for shipping (shrink wrapping, boxing, labeling).
  • Stage finished product for loading.
  • Loads and unloads delivery trucks for the purpose of receiving stock and/or filling orders for transport. Move materials to warehouse storage.
  • Participates in physical inventories for the purpose of verifying stock and identifying losses.
  • Team Member responds to Team Leader (and or management) for the purpose of providing information and/or direction regarding the status of deliveries, etc.
  • Maintains documents, files, and records (e.g., tracking online shipping, equipment transfer forms, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities and providing materials and reliable resource information.
  • Performs other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring an efficient and effective work environment.
  • Mandatory Overtime with or without advance notification
