About The Position
The Team Leader is a Young Life mission staff role focused on learning to lead and participate in effective Young Life ministry through training and direct field ministry experience. The position involves spiritual development, leadership development, resource development, direct ministry, and ministry support. The employee leads and serves with teams, volunteers, youth, donors, and community partners while developing and implementing ministry strategies. Young Life employees must profess belief in Jesus Christ, subscribe to the Young Life Statement of Faith and required staff policies, and fulfill the organization’s ministry expectations.
Requirements
- Profess belief in Jesus Christ as personal Savior and Lord and subscribe to the Young Life Statement of Faith and required staff policies.
- Proven relational skills with both kids and adults.
- Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.

Responsibilities
- Develop a yearly personal growth plan that supports spiritual health through solitude, retreat, reflection, prayer, and engagement with Scripture.
- Maintain participation in a church community and in the spiritual life of the Young Life community.
- Lead individuals and teams in spiritual development.
- Meet regularly with volunteer leaders and area leadership.
- Learn to recruit and train leaders and build a leadership team that reflects the community.
- Model excellence in contact work, club, Campaigners, and camping.
- Assist in training leaders, team leaders, and committee members in teamwork and yearly ministry strategy development.
- Raise financial support as directed, maintain donor care practices, and communicate ministry updates to personal donor partners.
- Learn to build strategic relationships with community adults, including principals, pastors, parents, and potential committee members as assigned by the area director.
- Assist with camp fundraisers.
- Participate in all three levels of contact work.
- Lead a team in planning and conducting a Young Life club and Campaigners or other discipleship ministry.
- Lead a team in implementing summer and school-season camping strategies.
- Serve on a summer assignment at a Young Life camp each year.
- Follow Young Life policies and procedures and maintain professionalism in office hours, dress, conduct, and time management.
- Manage finances with stewardship, accountability, and transparency using mission-wide applications.
- Maintain accurate records about kids, leaders, and donors.
- Provide clear, prompt, appropriate, and professional communication to people involved in ministry.
- Set yearly strategic ministry plans and initiatives to reach every kid and review them regularly.
- Perform other duties as assigned and consistent with gifts, experience, and area needs.
- Actively engage in training provided by area leadership and complete individualized training as assigned.
