About The Position

The Team Leader – SE/UCPS advances the mission of Barber National Institute (BNI) by supporting adults with intellectual disabilities and related needs through person-centered services that promote independence, community inclusion, skill development, and meaningful engagement. This role partners closely with the Program Specialist to ensure daily operations, staff support, documentation, and service coordination reflect compassion, accountability, and an unwavering belief in human potential. The Team Leader – SE/UCPS provides direct support to individuals enrolled in Supported Employment (SE) and Unlicensed Community Participation Services (UCPS) programs while assisting the Program Specialist with day-to-day operational coordination. The role supports staff coaching, service documentation, scheduling coordination, regulatory compliance activities, and communication across programs and community settings. This position serves as a functional leader and resource to staff working in community-based environments and helps ensure continuity, quality, and person-centered service delivery. The Team Leader also supports program documentation processes, satisfaction surveys, service activity tracking, and participation in interdisciplinary meetings to help individuals achieve meaningful outcomes.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED required.
Minimum one to three years of experience supporting individuals with intellectual disabilities, autism, behavioral health needs, or related populations required.
CPR and First Aid certification required or must be obtained within designated timeframe.
Valid driver’s license and ongoing compliance with all agency and insurer driving eligibility requirements are required for any role-related travel, including transporting clients in a personal vehicle, which requires maintaining current vehicle registration, inspection, and insurance coverage.
Knowledge of person-centered practices and community-based support services for individuals with intellectual disabilities and related needs.
Ability to support, coach, and guide staff in community-based service environments while reinforcing program expectations and compliance standards.
Strong interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills with the ability to build positive relationships with individuals, families, staff, and community partners.
Ability to maintain accurate documentation, records, and service information within electronic systems, including CareLogic or similar platforms.
Ability to prioritize tasks, manage competing responsibilities, and support daily program operations in a fast-paced environment.
Knowledge of confidentiality requirements and ethical standards related to human services and protected information.
Ability to exercise sound judgment, problem-solving, and decision-making within established program guidelines and under the guidance of leadership.
Ability to participate effectively in interdisciplinary meetings, assessments, and collaborative planning activities.
Basic proficiency with computer systems, Microsoft Office applications, electronic documentation systems, and communication tools.
Successful completion of all regulatory and agency-mandated clearances, including criminal background checks, child abuse clearances, and fingerprinting, as applicable.
Ongoing compliance with all required clearances, professional development, and certification requirements outlined in applicable laws, regulations, and agency policies is required.

Nice To Haves

Associate degree in human services, psychology, education, rehabilitation, social services, or a related field preferred.
Prior experience providing community-based services, staff guidance, service coordination, or program support preferred.
ACRE certification preferred.

Responsibilities

Support and monitor SE and UCPS staff working in community settings by providing guidance, coaching, communication, and problem-solving support to promote consistent, person-centered service delivery.
Provide direct support services to individuals participating in SE and UCPS programs, including community-based support, engagement, transportation assistance, and documentation to ensure individualized goals and service needs are met.
Maintain accurate and timely documentation, individual records, service activity logs (SALs), and program information within approved systems, including CareLogic, to support compliance, continuity of services, and regulatory requirements.
Assist the Program Specialist with operational coordination activities, including tracking required staff Learning and Development completion, driver documentation, satisfaction surveys, and other program-related administrative processes.
Participate in interdisciplinary meetings, including Individual Support Plan (ISP) meetings, Supports Intensity Scale (SIS) assessments, intake meetings, and team collaboration activities to support coordinated services and individualizes outcomes.
Provide direction, guidance, and performance feedback to team members as applicable to the role; manage resources effectively; ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and regulations; and support innovation and continuous improvement at the program level.
Translate organizational and service-line priorities into clear program-level goals, team expectations, and measurable outcomes to ensure consistent execution and accountability.
Maintain collaborative working relationships with internal departments and community partners to support coordinated, responsive services for individuals and families.
Monitor operational trends, local challenges, and regulatory updates that impact the program; communicate relevant observations to leadership and support continuous improvement efforts.
Foster a culture of psychological safety, continuous learning, and accountability by encouraging open dialogue, shared problem-solving, and professional growth within the team.
Invest in personal leadership development by engaging in Learning and Development opportunities, seeking feedback, and modeling the Core Commitments in daily practice.
