About The Position

The Team Leader, Finance oversees the related budgeting, analysis and forecasting aspects for Eversource. This role supports a hybrid work policy, requiring employees to work at least three days in the office, including Tuesdays and Wednesdays, with the third day set by the employee and supervisor. All applicants must be able to work up to five days in the office if needed or should the policy change. The position involves developing and monitoring direct reports, guiding them through challenging situations, and fostering a positive, professional, collaborative, and efficient work environment. It is responsible for the development of all budget and long-range plan support, providing financial support, leading financial projects, and collaborating with key business areas. The role also manages critical path schedules to ensure deadlines are met, sets direction for the work group, and ensures efficient use of resources. Additionally, it involves administering Company policies and procedures related to Finance functions, developing and implementing Finance procedures, and assisting with the department’s operating budget. The role requires developing and overseeing financial analysis that supports filings in an ethical manner, including accounting practices and financial principles unique to utilities, ensuring work products can withstand challenges. It also provides financial support and consultation to Business Managers for strategic initiatives and the financial implications of corporate and budgeting decisions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration.
  • Five or more years of related experience required.
  • Strong knowledge of finance, utility accounting and regulation.
  • Possess the aptitude to draw sound business conclusions, act decisively and drive business results.
  • Ability to effectively direct multiple and competing priorities.
  • Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strategic mindset; ability to see the big picture and provide effective direction.
  • Focus on innovation; continually and consistently challenge the status quo.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in regulatory financial concepts such as revenue requirements and rate making theory is desirable.
  • Financial modeling experience is desirable.
  • Utility Industry finance experience preferred.
  • CPA or industry specific designation(s) preferred.
  • Master’s degree preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Effectively developing and monitoring direct reports (2+ FTE’s).
  • Guiding direct reports when challenging situations are encountered and helping them to be successful.
  • Developing capability across the team, ensuring appropriate training and cross-training, resources and support for the team; providing direction and oversight to other team members.
  • Promoting and encouraging a positive, professional, collaborative and efficient work environment in which open communication is encouraged.
  • Development of all budget and long-range plan support.
  • Providing related financial support and leading various financial projects.
  • Collaborating effectively with several key business areas.
  • Managing critical path schedules to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Setting direction of the work group by developing actionable plans with staff to achieve the established goals, objectives and timelines.

  • Ensuring projects undertaken are in accordance with overall Finance and Eversource goals and objectives.
  • Administering approved Company policies and procedures as they relate to Finance functions.
  • Developing and implementing procedures related to Finance activities.
  • Assisting with the development of and administration of the department’s operating budget.
  • Developing analysis individually and overseeing analysis prepared by others, including the positions’ direct report(s), that will support the filings in an ethical manner.
  • Providing financial support and consultation to Business Managers in their assessment of complex strategic initiatives and the financial implications of corporate and budgeting decisions on company profitability.
  • Responding to emergency situations to meet customers’ needs as part of every employee’s role, which may include an Emergency Restoration assignment outside of normal responsibilities, work hours, and location.
