About The Position

Opportunity Builders, Inc. (OBI) Team Leaders are DSPs who are responsible for providing direct care and advocacy for adults diagnosed with intellectual and developmental disabilities, in addition to serving in a non-supervisory leadership capacity. This particular position ensures program compliance by working directly with the management team to help implement more effective and efficient processes. Whenever possible, the Team Leader will not be scheduled to provide direct care, to allow them to focus efforts on assigned projects. When they do provide direct care, however, they are responsible for assuring that the participants assigned to them are receiving the highest quality of care and support. This includes assisting in proactive steps to work towards achieving goals outlined within the Person-Centered Plan (PCP) and may require providing direct care/support within the agency’s facility, during transportation, or within the community.

Requirements

  • High School diploma, GED, or equivalent in work experience.
  • Valid Driver’s license, no more than 3 points on driving record and 3+ years driving experience.
  • Ability to perform and meet job and physical requirements.
  • Smart phones with internet capability and basic knowledge of the internet, apps, email and GPS.
  • Minimum of 1 year’s experience working with people with intellectual and physical disabilities (may include personal experience from having a family member or member(s) with a disability).
  • Able to perform with autonomy, as well as in a team-oriented environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize.

Nice To Haves

  • Be a Certified Medication Technician or can become a Certified Medication Technician.

Responsibilities

  • Complete assigned checks to ensure that OBI provides quality services and a safe environment for participants, including van checks for proper wheelchair security and cleanliness, zoom participation and equipment checks, and ensuring quality checks are complete.
  • Work in conjunction with OBI’s management team to complete specialized tasks or projects to enhance the quality of the program, support DSPs, and develop new processes.
  • Work collaboratively with all team leaders in the areas of virtual services, activity execution, community access and integration, and quality care.
  • Help to implement changes that may be needed in response to incidents, specifically assisting with implementing corrective measures outlined in OBI’s Plans of Correction.
  • Aid with ADLs to adults (participants) diagnosed with intellectual and developmental disabilities as needed, including assistance with eating/drinking, toileting, dressing, writing, verbal communications, and sharing of information.
  • Identify and offer activities that are meaningful to the individual being supported, seeking participant and caregiver input.
  • Act in a manner that is dignified, respectful, and honors the participant’s rights, preferences, and needs as determined within the person-centered plan (PCP).
  • Provide activities in-person while following all health and safety guidelines, and provide virtual activities using secure, OBI-approved platforms.
  • Provide accurate and quality documentation of all services provided, in accordance with OBI, state, and federal regulations by entering service data into ICare Manager daily.
  • Work directly with participants in helping achieve individual goals and objectives.
  • Participate in the development of the participant’s person-centered plan (PCP).
  • Work with supervisors and case coordinators to communicate the preferences of the participants to ensure this is reflected within the person-centered plan (PCP).
  • Participate in ongoing in-service training and maintain all DDA and OBI required trainings.
  • Participate in specialized training for any assigned participant, which includes reviewing and signing off on the person-centered plan (PCP) and behavior plan (BP) when applicable.
  • Train Direct Support Professionals about individual specific training as needed.
  • Drive personal vehicle and/or an agency vehicle to provide community and/or employment transportation to participants.
  • Cover virtual services as needed.
  • Assist with ensuring there are meaningful activities for program participants.
  • Be a Certified Medication Technician or can become one.
  • Assist with the training of DSPs, assuring they understand and are comfortable with their responsibilities and duties, including ratio training and PCP.
  • Aid the program Manager and Director as needed.
  • Attend external meetings, conferences, and training as needed/requested by supervisor.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director.
