About The Position

Horizon Project is a nonprofit that has been operating in Umatilla County since 1977. We support adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in their homes (24/7 support) and in the community. We're looking for reliable caregivers that prioritize quality client care and promote client independence.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Must pass an ODHS Criminal background check (renewed every 3 years)
  • Must pass a drug test
  • Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively in English (reading, writing, speaking)
  • Must be able to use a computer (basic skills - typing, internet navigation, email)

Nice To Haves

  • Experience may be considered when discussing starting pay.

Responsibilities

  • Give clients their medications
  • Use a computer every shift to check medications and submit documentation
  • Help with client financials and state benefits
  • Help clients bathe/shower, brush teeth, and use the bathroom (both male and female clients)
  • Do housework like cooking, cleaning, and laundry
  • Accompany clients to medical appointments and advocate for their healthcare
  • Take clients on community outings to the museum, library, or shopping
  • Safely operate a company van for client transportation (not applicable to graveyard shift)
  • Remain calm in a chaotic environment
  • Respond to client behaviors and prioritize client safety
  • Work with a diverse team to ensure quality client care and respect
