About The Position

The Team Leader of Starlight Studio Without Walls is responsible for managing and supervising the service activities and the staff of the art studio (the DSP-teaching artists). The Team Leader implements person-centered day services and supports to individuals that sustain their valued outcomes, needs and interests; and ensures quality, continuity and comprehensiveness. The Team Leader oversees curriculum development and creates opportunities that promote independence and meaningful experiences. The Team Leader has input on the intake and evaluation for services of individuals being considered for the program. The Team Leader oversees social media content and the storage and organizing of finished artworks by the studio artists.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services or arts-related degree
  • three years full-time, paid direct service experience with the disabled population
  • two years of supervisory experience
  • Valid New York State Driver’s License in Good Standing
  • Reliable form of transportation
  • Strong presentation and public speaking skills

Responsibilities

  • Supervise Teaching Artists, interns, and volunteers; oversee hiring, training, performance management, scheduling, and coverage.
  • Ensure compliance with agency policies, Medicaid regulations, incident reporting, quality assurance standards, employee conduct, and safety requirements.
  • Serve as liaison to host sites and maintain collaboration with internal Starlight Studio teams.
  • Lead staff meetings, training, professional development, and case reviews.
  • Organizes, conducts and participates in staff meetings, in-service events, etc.
  • Provides staff development and training, including orientation, in-service training and use of community resources.
  • Participate in professional development and community and inter-agency committee to remain current on changing trends and program requirements.
  • Provides consultation, supervision, and instruction to staff through individual and group conferences to assist staff in development of service skills.
  • Assist the Agency with marketing, public relations and general efforts to increase community awareness of our services.
  • Consistently complies with all Agency policies and procedures.
  • Arranges for coverage of caseloads and groups in the event of any habilitation staff absence or extended leave.
  • Monitors time and attendance of DSP-Teaching Artists including but not limited to approving time sheets, time off requests, and monitoring tardiness and absences.
  • Implement and oversee person-centered day services and habilitation plans.
  • Support artists’ skill development in artmaking, daily living, socialization, community integration, and work readiness.
  • Oversee studio operations, supplies, calendars, and volunteer opportunities.
  • Works with staff to develop active services for individuals, including but not limited to: prioritizing objectives, determining feasibility, methodology, techniques, time frames, and required support services.
  • Oversees and maintains storage and organization of completed artworks and in process artworks of each artist.
  • Oversees the photo-documentation of artworks and accompanying written documentation.
  • Organizes exhibitions of Starlight WOW artists’ work in the Starlight gallery and off-site locations.
  • In conjunction with the Teaching Artists, develops curriculum and/or instructional plans for day habilitation to include community integration.
  • Oversight of skill acquisition for individuals in areas including, but not limited to: hygiene and grooming, socialization, behavior management, various art techniques, daily living skills, community integration, work readiness and mobility.
  • Demonstrates skill in applying the principles and practices of individual-specific Behavior Support Plan.
  • Works with Community Integration Planners and Community Integration Managers to coordinate individuals’ plans with multi-disciplinary team to ensure quality services.
  • Interacts with individuals in a supportive role to foster social interaction and to enhance skill levels.
  • Works with Starlight’s Community Curator and Starlight Studio Social Media Curator to organize exhibitions and promote the sale of Starlight artwork.
  • Assesses individuals’ needs to determine available resources and makes recommendations to (Coordinator) Director for additional resources.
  • Monitors and orders supplies to ensure the Agency is providing quality services and follows established Agency purchasing policy.
  • Assists the Director (and Coordinator) of Starlight Studio in establishing and maintaining working relationships with community resources, referral agencies and support services to ensure ongoing provision of comprehensive services.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
