About The Position

The Team Leader, National Casualty and Bodily Injury Claims will report directly to the Manager, National Bodily Injury/Casualty. This role involves coaching and supporting claims staff through regular technical huddles and one-on-one development, streamlining processes to enhance performance, and maintaining quality through monthly audits and data-driven insights. The Team Leader will also play a key role in talent development and recruitment, providing continuous feedback, identifying training needs, and participating in hiring decisions. Requirements

  • A proven track record of leadership.
  • A minimum of five years of experience handling bodily injury and casualty litigation claims.
  • Strong technical expertise in Auto/Bodily Injury and General Liability claims, with national technical handling experience considered an asset.
  • Demonstrated organizational, negotiation, analytical, and interpersonal skills, with a strong focus on team culture.
  • Experience with performance management processes.
  • The ability to maintain a national perspective and support a geographically dispersed team.
  • A university degree, a relevant two-year college diploma (Insurance, Law & Security, Loss Control, Business Administration), or a CIP designation.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitating weekly team huddles and conducting regular one-on-one meetings with team members.
  • Analyzing, developing, and implementing efficient claims processes, procedures, and methods to improve workflow and results.
  • Providing guidance, on-the-job training, technical direction, and leadership to staff regarding performance, productivity, conduct, and adherence to corporate policies.
  • Delivering ongoing performance feedback and creating development plans when necessary.
  • Completing monthly audits by reviewing and monitoring claims files and offering constructive, actionable feedback.
  • Supporting staff development by assisting with hiring decisions, conducting performance evaluations, identifying training opportunities, and keeping employees informed of policy and procedural changes.
  • Initiating interviews for unit vacancies and making recommendations for new hires.
