We are looking for a talented Team Leader - Level IV – SHOP to join our team specializing in Manufacturing for our Cummins Inc. facility in Plainfield, IN. Requirements

  • High school diploma or certificate of completion of secondary education or equivalent experience to the extent such experience meets applicable regulations.
  • Significant relevant work experience or specialized skills obtained through education, training or on-the-job experience.
  • Skilled in identifying, investigating, and implementing record‑accuracy improvements to support operational excellence and meet performance targets.
  • Experienced in leading root‑cause investigations for critical material discrepancies and initiating corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Strong cross‑functional collaborator, regularly partnering with IT to review system changes impacting inventory accuracy and with Finance to support audit requirements.
  • Adept at generating timely, accurate reporting on record accuracy, error trends, and inventory performance metrics.
  • Proven ability to foster a collaborative, team‑oriented environment by coaching and supporting team members in shared responsibilities.
  • Committed to operating with high ethical standards and full adherence to company policies, safety guidelines, and compliance requirements.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal strengths in motivating, coaching, problem‑solving, evaluating, and training team members.
  • Thorough understanding of operational equipment and associated safety risks within assigned areas.
  • Skilled in performing root‑cause analysis (8D, internal audits, lean methodologies) to address safety, quality, and production issues.

Responsibilities

  • Investigate inventory discrepancies, analyze root causes, implement corrective actions, and maintain accurate reporting across all material records and cycle count activities.
  • Work effectively with IT, Finance, Quality, EHS, and operations teams to ensure system integrity, audit readiness, safety compliance, and clear communication of process changes.
  • Motivate, train, and guide team members; allocate manpower effectively; promote standardized work; encourage continuous improvement ideas; and foster a cohesive, accountable team environment.
  • Demonstrate a deep commitment to proactive safety behaviors, equipment knowledge, quality standards, and structured problem‑solving (8D, audits, lean tools) to drive ongoing improvements in throughput, waste reduction, and process reliability.
  • Provide direction and oversight for cycle‑count processes, cycle‑count teams, and offsite inventory operations.
  • Conduct daily safety walks, PPE checks, and equipment reviews to ensure a safe and compliant work environment.
  • Ensure timely reporting of close calls and incidents to EHS leadership and communicate safety concerns to the team.
  • Partner with Quality to develop and update work instructions, ensuring changes are communicated and implemented effectively.
  • Perform root‑cause analysis (8D, internal audits, lean methodologies) to address safety, quality, and production issues.
  • Lead continuous‑improvement initiatives to eliminate waste, enhance productivity, and improve processes; communicate progress and results to the team.
  • Encourage team participation in safety, quality, and productivity improvements and provide updates on the status of their suggestions.
  • Measure and maintain quality standards related to team processes.
  • Allocate manpower based on operational needs and team skill sets; provide coverage for absenteeism as needed.
  • Perform equipment, forklift, machine, and tooling checks at shift start‑up and report abnormalities promptly.
  • Identify and support throughput‑improvement opportunities, maximizing value‑added cycle time.
  • Ensure fair and balanced job rotation among team members to support engagement and skill development.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support team and business needs.
