About The Position

The Team Leader - Cash Posting is responsible for overseeing the timely and accurate posting of payments and adjustments in accordance with department guidelines and basic accounting principles. This role provides day-to-day guidance to the Cash Posting team, ensures productivity and quality standards are met, supports issue resolution, and serves as a subject matter expert for cash application processes.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of two years of cash application experience; healthcare preferred.
  • Proficiency in reading payor remittances and ERAs.
  • Strong 10-key and MS Excel skills.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and meet deadlines.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior lead or mentoring experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, monitor, and support daily cash posting activities to ensure timely and accurate application of patient and insurance payments, adjustments, and refunds.
  • Post a high volume of payments and adjustments via electronic files, paper remittances, and credit card transactions as needed.
  • Review and reconcile all payments to accounts, remittances, and batches daily; ensure team balancing and maintain reconciliation documentation and spreadsheets.
  • Serve as a point of escalation for complex payment posting, reconciliation discrepancies, and adjustment issues.
  • Identify trends or recurring issues related to billing, coding, or reimbursement discrepancies and communicate findings to management.
  • Provide guidance, training, and support to cash posting staff and branch locations regarding proper application of payments.
  • Assist with onboarding and ongoing training of team members; provide feedback related to performance and accuracy.
  • Ensure compliance with Medicare, Medicaid, HIPAA, and organizational policies.
  • Maintain confidentiality and support continuous process improvement.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
