About The Position

Perfetti Van Melle, a global leader in confectionery and chewing gum, is seeking an enthusiastic Production Team Lead to join their manufacturing team. This role is responsible for the day-to-day plant activities, focusing on safety, food safety, and clear communication. The Team Lead will perform all functions related to equipment start-up, shutdown, lockout, and sanitation to ensure high-quality product output that meets or exceeds cost and quality targets.

Requirements

  • Two years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably a food environment.
  • Prior leadership experience preferred.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to work overtime hours, above your normal schedule, to meet customer demands.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem analysis skills.
  • Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including Safety Shoes, Safety Glasses, Hearing Protection, Uniform, Hairnet, Beard net, and Mask when required.
  • Ability to occasionally wear and use breathing protection devices as required while working in dusty conditions.
  • Ability to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms.
  • Ability to occasionally sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl.
  • Ability to talk, hear, and smell.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally push/pull 350-pound carts with wheels.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, and peripheral vision.
  • Required knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Teams.
  • Familiarity with SharePoint, SAP, Paycor, Smartsheet, Power BI.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of HR practices.

  • Spanish or bilingual fluency highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Performs all functions associated with the start-up, shutdown, lockout, sanitation, and operations of packaging and/or process equipment.
  • Ensures production of high-quality product that meets or exceeds targets for cost and quality.
  • Responsible for day-to-day plant activities in a team environment promoting safety, food safety, and clear communication.
  • Holds others accountable for following standards and delivering on commitments, following escalation processes when applicable.
  • Assesses training needs and leads efforts to plan and complete training.
  • Assesses work standards, makes them available, and holds teams accountable to meet them.
  • Engages proactively with cross-functional support teams, leaders, and floor operators, coaching others to do the same.
  • Prepares written materials and delivers oral presentations using visual aids, delivering concise messages to various audiences, and escalating to high-level leaders when necessary.
  • Analyzes data and trains others on DMAIC problem-solving methods.
  • Leads decision-making processes using data and principles to make organizational or technical decisions involving the right people at the right level.
  • Recognizes when company resources/information are needed, locates, evaluates, and uses them effectively, coaching others to do the same, and creating or updating resources/information when needed.
  • Manages conflict between team members and resolves non-technical issues within the team, involving HR when necessary.
  • Provides insight pertaining to employee evaluations and delivers feedback professionally and positively.
  • Adapts leadership style to work situations.
