About The Position

CSPNJ, a mental health nonprofit agency, is looking for seasonal Team Leads(s). The Team Lead assists the Mentors and guests, providing quality services, and maintaining the cleanliness and integrity of the center. The Cooling Center provides emergency all day and overnight shelter for the unhoused during the summer heat. The Cooling Center provides a cool safe place for unsheltered individuals to spend the day or night during the summer season.

Requirements

• Must have a High School diploma / GED.
• Experience working with individuals experiencing homelessness is required.
• Proficient in basic computer skills, including using email and internet applications, managing documents, and virtual communication platforms.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage crises.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, leadership, coaching, and conflict resolution skills.
• Proven ability to engage and support individuals with mental health diagnoses using empathy and professionalism.

Nice To Haves

• Certified Recovery Support Practitioner (CRSP), Certified Peer Recovery Specialist (CPRS), or equivalent peer certification preferred.
• Bilingual skills are a plus!
• Lived Experience: CSPNJ prioritizes hiring people who use their own life experience dealing with mental health/substance use issues to inspire and support others.

Responsibilities

• Greet guests and make them feel welcome and comfortable.
• Be a positive role model, through professional behavior and communication.
• Offer information and referral to guests regarding wellness and recovery, peer support and community services.
• Provide a safe and healthy environment through education, guidance, and personal interaction.
• Responsible for guest safety, proving crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques as needed.
• Must adhere to staffing schedules to ensure adequate and safe coverage in support of program objectives.
• Evening & overnight shifts available
• Ability to carry out domestic duties, including household tasks such as cleaning and maintaining a safe and functional environment.
