About The Position

CSPNJ, a mental health nonprofit agency, is looking for a daytime Team Lead in Atlantic City. Under the Regional Coordinator, the Team Lead will assist the Outreach Workers with providing comprehensive support to finding and identifying unsheltered homeless individuals through direct street outreach activities in Atlantic City. The focus of this work is to connect individuals with resources and services to assist them in stabilizing their homeless, mental health, and primary health situations. 90% of time will be spent out in the community engaging unhoused individuals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a mental health discipline or High School diploma / GED with 2+ years of related experience.
  • Knowledge of poverty and homelessness causes, trends, issues and solutions.
  • Strong judgment and problem-solving abilities to work with citizens, businesses, and others in emotional/stressful situations.
  • Strong expertise in strengths-based, solution-focused practice.
  • Knowledge and experience working with diverse cultures and ethnicities.
  • Must be proficient in MS Office products, as well as general computer literacy.
  • Willingness to disclose mental health and/or substance use services and speak openly on aspects of recovery.
  • Proven ability to engage and support individuals with mental health diagnoses using empathy, professionalism, and trauma-informed practices.
  • MUST have a valid NJ Driver’s License with acceptable driving record.
  • Lived Experience: CSPNJ prioritizes hiring people who use their life experience with a mental health diagnose or substance use to inspire and support others.

  • Knowledge of HMIS software a plus!
  • Bilingual skills are a plus!

Responsibilities

  • Utilize harm reduction and housing first approaches when conducting street outreach and engage with individuals to determine homelessness history, services needed, and appropriate placement options.
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of the individual’s needs, including health, emotional, social, and environmental factors.
  • Responsible for gaining a holistic understanding of the homeless population in their catchment areas and works in collaboration with the community and other partners to implement appropriate housing and service solutions.
  • Participate in community outreach and education efforts to raise awareness of homelessness and services.
