Requirements

  • Extensive experience leading compensation programs within complex organizations, including both unionized and non-unionized environments
  • Deep expertise in job evaluation, job architecture, salary administration, market pricing, compensation governance, and pay transparency
  • Demonstrated experience interpreting and applying compensation legislation, collective agreements, and organizational policies
  • Recognized for providing practical, data-driven recommendations on complex compensation matters
  • Continuous improvement mindset and experience implementing enhancements to programs, systems, and processes
  • Understanding of the connection between compensation strategies and broader HR functions, including talent acquisition, workforce planning, benefits, pensions, and HRIS
  • Experience conducting compensation market analyses, benchmarking, costing, and financial modeling
  • Strong knowledge of Ontario employment legislation, including the Employment Standards Act, Pay Equity Act, Human Rights Code, Pay Transparency requirements, and applicable collective agreements
  • Understanding of organizational design principles and how compensation programs support business and workforce objectives
  • Exceptional consulting and stakeholder management skills and can influence leaders at all levels of the organization
  • Ability to translate complex compensation concepts into practical business recommendations
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and can develop reports, presentations, business cases, and briefing materials
  • Sound judgment and discretion when handling sensitive and confidential matters
  • Ability to effectively manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality results in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated experience leading enterprise-wide projects and cross-functional initiatives
  • Advanced analytical skills and can interpret large data sets to identify trends and opportunities
  • Experience with HR technology platforms and compensation system implementations
  • Skilled in planning, executing, and evaluating programs and projects from inception through implementation
  • Strong vendor management experience and can effectively manage external partnerships
  • Advanced experience with HRIS platforms (e.g., Workday, SAP SuccessFactors, Oracle HCM, UKG, Dayforce, or similar) and compensation modules
  • Proven track record of creating and managing dashboards and visual reporting solutions using HRIS reporting tools, Power BI, Tableau, or similar business platforms
  • Strong data analytics capabilities, including modeling, trend analysis, forecasting, and workforce insights
  • Experience automating HR and compensation workflows and improving business processes through technology
  • Form knowledge of HR data governance, reporting frameworks, and data quality management
  • Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Finance, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum of six years of progressive compensation experience at a senior consultant level
  • Experience supporting both unionized and non-unionized employee groups

  • Professional designation such as CCP, CEBS, PCP/PLP, CHRP, or equivalent is considered an asset

Responsibilities

  • Leading IESO's compensation programs, including job design, job evaluation, job architecture, salary administration, merit and variable pay processes, pay transparency initiatives, and compensation framework implementation
  • Leveraging advanced compensation and workforce analytics to identify trends, risks, and opportunities and provide data-driven recommendations to business leaders
  • Managing compensation governance practices to ensure compliance with legislation, collective agreements, and organizational policies
  • Leading market benchmarking initiatives and compensation surveys to maintain competitive and cost-effective programs
  • Identifying opportunities to automate compensation, job evaluation and Total Rewards processes, improving efficiency, data quality, and employee experience
  • Acting as project lead for compensation-related projects, including HRIS compensation enhancements and reporting solutions
  • Supporting the broader Total Rewards function through participation in recognition, pension, benefits, and wellness initiatives
  • Providing strategic advice and solutions on job design, job evaluation, and job architecture
  • Providing strategic advice and solutions on salary administration and compensation governance
  • Providing strategic advice and solutions on pay equity, pay transparency, and legislative compliance
  • Providing strategic advice and solutions on market competitiveness and compensation benchmarking
  • Providing strategic advice and solutions on merit increases, variable pay programs, and compensation planning
  • Providing strategic advice and solutions on collective agreement interpretation and unionized compensation practices
  • Developing compensation analyses, reports, dashboards, and recommendations to influence business decisions, identify trends, and support strategic workforce planning initiatives
  • Presenting findings and recommendations to stakeholders, including Executive Leadership Team members
  • Facilitating training sessions on compensation programs and practices
  • Preparing business cases, briefing materials, project plans, and supporting documentation
  • Leading consultations and focus groups to gather feedback and improve programs
  • Leading enterprise-wide compensation initiatives and system enhancements
  • Partnering with cross-functional teams to implement Total Rewards programs
  • Managing external compensation consultants and vendors
  • Coordinating complex compensation reviews and resolving escalated issues
  • Supporting labour relations initiatives, negotiations, and compensation-related committees
