Team Lead, Senior Instructional Designer
About The Position
Samsara’s Customer Education team is seeking a creative Senior Instructional Designer to join their energetic team. This role will be instrumental in Samsara's growth and in ensuring the long-term success of its customers. Key responsibilities include developing learning strategies tailored to Samsara's core customer personas and industries, innovating with AI-driven instructional development, contributing to process scalability and reach, and acting as a thought leader within Samsara. This is a remote position open to candidates residing in the US, excluding the San Francisco Bay Metro Area, NYC Metro Area, and Washington, D.C. Metro Area.
Requirements
- 3-5+ years learning design or instructional design experience in a software/Saas setting
- Knowledge of Instructional Design standard methodologies and a proven ability to craft learning content that is effective and engaging
- Ability to communicate abstract or technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences (visually and in writing)
- Ability to identify the best learning delivery formats (e.g., online learning, assessments, audio-based lessons) for a specific set of objectives
- Collaboration skills and teamwork
- Attention to design aesthetics and visual detail.
- Knowledge of legacy and emerging content development tools such as: Parta.io, Articulate, Camtasia, Zoom, Clueso etc.
Nice To Haves
- Comfort working within an AI-driven content development process, including AI-assisted authoring, review, and iteration
- Experience developing in-app training or contextual product education
Responsibilities
- Work with stakeholders across the company to define training requirements, learning goals and user needs for both customers and partners
- Craft and build learning & credentialing experiences in different formats (online learning, audio, video, in-app, etc.), working within the constraints of different templates and business requirements
- Leverage a wide range of tools (AI-based content authoring, multimedia) to develop content rapidly and iteratively
- Push yourself and the team to evolve and improve upon our processes, and to discover and test new instructional development models and tooling
- Solicit reviews from partners and SMEs, and review others’ content and assessments for effectiveness
- Own an assigned Samsara product area, by monitoring updates, maintaining its curriculum, and partnering with leadership on incoming requests
- Build product expertise through self-directed research, available AI tools, and targeted collaboration with SMEs to validate content
- Design and write engaging and effective assessments
- Champion, role model, and embed Samsara’s values and operating principles as we scale globally and across new offices
