The Team Leader, Pathology Ambulatory Laboratory Service Centers is responsible for the processing and workflows for all laboratory specimens and orders from all sources, and/or collects specimens on populations of all ages, as assigned with positive patient impact. Responsible for verification of patient/specimen identification, appropriateness of specimen and accompanying orders. Responsible for the daily organization of the phlebotomy sections at the Ambulatory Laboratory Service Centers. Responsibilities include daily organization of workflow within the section, scheduling staff for daily assignments and monitoring specimen collection and processing. Provides staff training and education, maintaining training records in compliance with laboratory standards and accrediting agencies and representation of the laboratory to the customers of WakeMed. Assists with the annual and introductory performance appraisals on assigned staff. Assists the supervisor with Quality Assurance and Continuous Quality Improvement activities. Assists with writing of new procedures and the updating of current procedures. Works as an individual and as part of a team with minimal supervision/periodic review by supervisory staff.
