The Team Lead Park Maintenance – Groundskeeping is a member of the Park and Facility Services Division. The Team Lead must possess a passion for gardening and is responsible for assisting the Park Maintenance Supervisor - Groundskeeping - in providing leadership, operational support and asset protection, at a consistently high level and according to defined standards, to all internal and external stakeholders and guests in a dynamic operating environment.

Requirements

  • Must possess a valid Class 5 driver's license (non-GDL), with a minimum of one (1) year driving experience required
  • Minimum of two (2) years previous industry work experience
  • Minimum of two (2) years previous supervisory or leadership experience in the labour field
  • Minimum of two (2) years’ gardening experience and related equipment experience including mowers, whips, chainsaws and ride-on mowers
  • Aptitude to perform heavy lifting and manual labour
  • Exceptional customer service, communication, problem solving, planning and time management skills
  • WHMIS Certification
  • Must have CSA approved steel toe work boots
  • Must be Flora oriented: weed identification is crucial

Responsibilities

  • Adhering to all safety and environmental protection programs, policies and procedures to ensure a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Maintaining green spaces, gardens and planters.
  • Contributing to new employee orientation and on boarding within the department.
  • Equipment operation, daily time sheet management and completion of service requests.
  • Supporting supervisors with performance management, mentorship, and training as well as providing input into performance reviews
  • Paperwork/administrative duties as required for audits, inspections and resource utilization
  • Other duties as assigned
