About The Position

To support its continued growth, AtkinsRéalis’ Minerals & Metals – Plant Engineering division is seeking a Team Leader, Mechanical and Industrial Piping Technical Services to fill an immediate strategic need. You will have the opportunity to lead a high-performing and growing team, while actively contributing to the technical and human development of the discipline. Reporting to the Discipline Manager, you will be responsible for the operational, technical, and people management of a team of 8 to 12 mechanical and industrial piping technicians. You will play a key role in achieving objectives related to excellence, growth, standardization, and client satisfaction.

Requirements

  • Diploma of College Studies (DCS/DEC) in Mechanical Engineering Technology or a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 10+ years of experience in an engineering or design office, including management or coordination of technical teams.
  • Proficiency with 3D design tools (AutoCAD Plant 3D, Inventor, Revit, or equivalent).
  • Mobilizing leadership, strong interpersonal skills, and sound organizational awareness.
  • Ability to perform effectively in a complex, fast evolving environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in French and English.

Nice To Haves

  • Member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ) and/or Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) (an asset).
  • Recognized expertise in industrial mechanics and piping.
  • Experience in standardizing design practices (templates, libraries, methods) (a strong asset).

Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and motivate a team of mechanical and industrial piping technicians.
  • Deploy and enforce corporate standards, methods, and procedures.
  • Set individual and team objectives, monitor performance, and foster accountability.
  • Act as a technical and professional mentor to team members.
  • Maintain a motivating, ethical, and collaborative work environment.
  • Ensure a high level of team productivity (chargeability and contribution to proposals).
  • Contribute to recruitment, onboarding, training, and performance evaluation.
  • Plan resource mobilization and demobilization according to project needs.
  • Maintain and develop a high level of technical expertise within the engineering group.
  • Coordinate, assign, and supervise day-to-day team activities.
  • Manage financial and material resources in compliance with corporate requirements.
  • Maintain optimal productivity while fulfilling the team leader role.
  • Collaborate with management on the development and execution of the group’s growth strategy.
  • Actively participate in proposal processes and business development initiatives.
  • Contribute to the standardization of design practices in close collaboration with other divisions and disciplines.
  • Ensure client satisfaction and compliance with deliverables, budgets, and schedules.
  • Act, as required, as a Project Manager, Discipline Lead, or Technical Team Lead.
  • Participate in studies, design (drawings and specifications), and construction support for mining and industrial projects.
  • Perform technical calculations and define design criteria and parameters.
  • Ensure interdisciplinary coordination with all stakeholders.
  • Prepare required technical reports and recommendations.
  • Produce 3D models of mechanical equipment and industrial piping systems.
  • Contribute to the development of general arrangement and detailed drawings.
  • Produce piping plans and isometrics.
  • Participate in the development of piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs).
  • Prepare equipment, piping, and line lists using specialized software and Excel.
  • Contribute to estimates and material quantity take-offs.
  • Work closely with engineers and technician-designers from various disciplines.
