About The Position

The Team Lead - Material Handler is responsible for ensuring all safety procedures, PPE requirements, and inspections are followed, including daily safety dock audits. This role involves leading daily start-up meetings, communicating production priorities, and training, coaching, and cross-training team members. The Team Lead will assign daily work, hold team members accountable for safety, quality, productivity, and attendance, and ensure production lines are stocked with necessary materials. Key responsibilities include reviewing production schedules, anticipating material needs, maintaining accurate inventory and documentation, and ensuring proper material storage and handling. The role also involves monitoring material usage, shortages, scrap, inventory discrepancies, and downtime, as well as maintaining 5S standards and ensuring compliance with Quality Management System requirements and Customer Specifications. The Team Lead will assist with problem-solving, root-cause analysis, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives. Effective communication with supervisors regarding production, material, quality, and employee issues, as well as conducting effective shift handoffs, is crucial. The position also supports audits, inventory counts, and continuous improvement activities, while adhering to all Quality, Environmental, and company policies. Acceptable attendance and willingness to work overtime as required are necessary. Other duties as assigned by management may be performed.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure all safety procedures, PPE requirements, and inspections are followed, including daily safety dock audits of the shipping and receiving docks.
  • Lead daily start-up meetings and communicate production priorities.
  • Train, coach, and cross-train team members as needed.
  • Assign daily work and hold team members accountable for safety, quality, productivity, and attendance.
  • Ensure production lines have the required materials, supplies, and containers throughout the shift.
  • Review production schedules and anticipate material needs to prevent shortages and downtime.
  • Maintain accurate inventory, material identification, traceability, and documentation.
  • Ensure proper storage, handling, labeling, and segregation of materials.
  • Monitor material usage, shortages, scrap, inventory discrepancies, and downtime.
  • Maintain 5S, cleanliness, organization, and proper material presentation.
  • Ensure compliance with Quality Management System requirements and Customer Specifications.
  • Assist with problem solving, root-cause analysis, corrective actions, and continuous improvement.
  • Communicate production, material, quality, and employee issues to the supervisor and escalate when necessary.
  • Conduct effective shift handoffs and communicate outstanding issues.
  • Support audits, inventory counts, and continuous improvement activities.
  • Follow all Quality, Environmental, and company policies and procedures.
  • Maintain acceptable attendance and work overtime as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
