About The Position

The Team Lead – Fuel Distribution System Operator receives, stores, transfers, and issues fuel through pipelines at main line or terminal stations; receives fuel by tanker; ships fuel by pipeline, tank car, tank truck, and barge; prepares and checks receiving or shipping documents; connects lines, grounding wires, and loading and offloading arms or hoses to pipelines; and visually inspects fuel samples while checking gravity and flashpoint. This operator gauges tanks for water, temperature, and fuel levels, checks pumping systems for correct operating pressure or unusual noises, performs preventive maintenance and repairs on terminal systems, assists in the maintenance of government-owned railroad loading and switch areas, and performs general housekeeping and grounds maintenance for terminal, pipeline, and dock areas. In addition to performing these duties, the Team Lead provides day-to-day leadership of Fuel Distribution System Operators by coordinating daily work assignments, mentoring personnel, ensuring compliance with Army, DoD, OSHA, environmental, and company safety requirements, monitoring operational performance, and serving as the primary point of contact for daily fuel distribution activities while working alongside the team.

Requirements

  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience operating bulk fuel storage and distribution systems and equipment.
  • Must have a current Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Tanker and Hazardous Materials (HazMat) endorsements.
  • Must be able to physically maneuver a 20-foot fuel hose and nozzle weighing approximately 60 pounds to connect and refill fuel trucks.
  • Must be a high school graduate or possess an equivalent diploma.
  • Must be able to walk and stand on level and/or inclined surfaces for extended periods throughout the day.
  • Must be able to climb stairs, ramps, ladders, and work stands.
  • Must be able to regularly lift, push, and pull a minimum of 50 pounds.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or U.S. Permanent Resident for more than three (3) years to obtain NACI investigation and Common Access Card (CAC) eligibility.

  • Previous team lead or supervisory experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead daily fuel distribution operations while actively performing all operator duties.
  • Coordinate daily work assignments and provide technical guidance to Fuel Distribution System Operators.
  • Train and mentor assigned personnel in the safe operation of fuel distribution equipment and established operating procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable Army, DoD, OSHA, environmental, and company policies and safety requirements.
  • Monitor daily operations to ensure mission requirements are completed safely, accurately, and on schedule.
