About The Position

Under the supervision of the Group Sales or Department Manager, the Team Leader gives daily direction to the associates in one of the departments within the store, to include: merchandise presentation, inventory control, pricing, sales enhancements, stocking, and customer service activities. This role supports the Group Sales Manager (GSM) or Department Manager (DM) in leadership of firearm sales and compliance with ATF, state, and local laws, company policies and procedures, including 4473, 3310, state and internally required firearm forms. The Team Leader provides direction and guidance to Sales Outfitters in firearm safe handling, safety, operations, and customer experience standards within the firearms department. They also support the GSM/DM in achieving departmental sales, gross margin, inventory shrinkage, and payroll goals, and provide daily direction to associates within the department. This role involves executing merchandising directives, ensuring a pleasant and productive shopping experience, and assisting with staffing, training, and performance management of department associates. The Team Leader is responsible for maintaining a high level of personal customer service, remaining a product expert, and assisting with special events, pricing, assortments, inventory accuracy, and display of advertised items. They also assist the GSM/DM in carrying out supervisory responsibilities, including interviewing, training, planning, assigning work, evaluating performance, and resolving problems to maintain a positive, harassment-free working environment. Additionally, the Team Leader provides a legendary experience for every customer by assisting them in making buying decisions, identifying and evaluating needs, making product recommendations, and promoting company programs.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • 2 to 4 Years in Retail Sales
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, commissions, and percentages
  • Ability to read and analyze certain reports
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from Managers, associates, customers, and the general public
  • Ability to conduct meetings and presentations to groups
  • Proficiency with PC-based word processing, spreadsheets, data-based management and electronic point of sale and inventory management systems
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, associates, customers and with the Corporate Staff

  • Resolves customer and associate opportunities with GSM/DM and HR Manager.
  • Maintains a high level of personal Customer Service and achieves above-average customer service results.
  • Remains a product expert through ongoing product knowledge training and conducts product demos.
  • Assists GSM/DM with coordination of all “Special Events”, maintenance of pricing and UPC integrity, determining proper assortments, accuracy of inventory, and proper display, signing and pricing of advertised items.
  • Assists GSM/DM in carrying out Supervisory responsibilities, including interviewing, training, planning, assigning and directing work, measuring and evaluating performance, addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Provides a legendary experience for every customer by assisting customers in making buying decisions, identifying and evaluating needs, making product recommendations, and promoting company programs.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
