About The Position

The Team Lead for FEP Coordinated Specialty Care is responsible for the leadership, clinical oversight, and operational management of a multidisciplinary team providing treatment and services for individuals experiencing first episode for serious mental illness and their families to support treatment, stabilization and resources, co-occurring disorders, including comorbidity and dual diagnoses (e.g., psychotic disorder with substance use disorder or other mental health conditions). This position will also serve as a marketing specialist for the team. This role ensures high-quality, patient-centered care while maintaining compliance with all applicable regulations and standards, including required trainings and may be required to take on additional roles within the program, including direct services.

Requirements

Understanding and ability to ethically practice within your scope, evidence based clinical models (IRT, CBT/CBT-p, DBT, EMDR, ACT, etc..), including crisis intervention for behavioral health and substance use.
Excellent listening and communication skills.
Able to tailor communication styles to make all clients and support structures feel safe.
Ability to engage a range of clients in a clinical and respectful manner.
Ability to practice and/or train in de-escalation methods.
Understanding of the basic behavioral health needs common to the community areas being served, including co-occurring disorders, and how to serve their recovery.
Understanding internal and external community, medical and supportive services within the community.
Ability to adapt, connect and collaborate across differences.
Ability to work effectively with peers, individual clients and groups.
Desire to learn new skills.
Ability to maintain accurate records and necessary paperwork, efficiently and effectively.
Master’s degree in social work, counseling, psychology, or related field.
5+ years of experience in behavioral health or substance use disorder treatment, including supervisory responsibilities.
Clinically licensed preferred.
Familiarity with and comfort working, educating and coaching around psychosis.
In-depth knowledge of relevant clinical and regulatory frameworks (e.g., DHS guidelines, DSM-V, ASAM criteria).
Proficient in electronic health record systems and client management software.
Strong leadership, interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
Must pass required pre-employment background checks. This includes clearance by the DHS Background Check Unit.
Full time use of a properly licensed and insured automobile with a valid driver’s license and ability to drive, or independence in travel arrangements.

Responsibilities

Completes intake assessments for FIRST.IL referrals, whether in hospitals or at the office.
Provides guidance and oversight of team members delivering Individual Resiliency Training (IRT), CPT-p, community support and supported employment/education and provide those services directly as needed.
Assists the Community Support Specialist and other team members to ensure continuity of care.
Provide family psychoeducation directly or in collaboration with other team members.
Coordinates monthly CBT-p consultation with FIRST.IL CBT-p consultant.
Review and monitor clinical documentation for accuracy and compliance with evidence-based practices and ethical guidelines, with specific focuses on CBT-p and IRT.
Respond to and manage patient crisis situations with professionalism and clinical judgment.
Ensure adherence to treatment plans, including proper use of assessment and measurement-based care tools such as DSM-V and ASAM criteria.
Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, including HIPAA and DHS standards.
Maintain readiness for audits and accreditation (e.g., funder or internal audits).
Monitor and improve program outcomes through data-driven quality improvement initiatives, in line with grant requirements.
Provides internal and external stakeholders with required reports.
Serve as a liaison with external partners, including community agencies, healthcare providers, and government entities.
Promote program visibility and growth through community outreach and relationship-building.
Provide daily supervision, coaching, and support to clinical and administrative staff, including counselors, nurses, and coordinators.
Foster a collaborative and accountable team culture.
Participate in recruitment, onboarding, and performance evaluations.
Monitors attendance and PTO requests.
Facilitate required weekly staff meetings and manage team schedules to ensure program coverage.
In collaboration with supervisors and finance, appropriately manage resource allocation, and procurement for the FEP program.
Maintain accurate reporting and documentation for internal and external stakeholders.
Represents the agency at meetings and consultations with the state for regulatory updates and maintenance.
Ensures all new team members participate in and complete required grant (CANVAS) trainings within 30 business days of employment.
Participate in monthly multi-disciplinary first episode psychosis CBT-p learning collaborative.
Encourage ongoing professional development among staff.
