About The Position

Adams Lake Indian Band is seeking an Early Learning Team Lead (Infant/Toddler Program) to work under the direction of the Adams Lake Band’s Director of Early Learning Program. The individual’s main responsibilities will be to support the day-to-day operations of the Early Learning Centre program area and provide leadership and support to program staff. The Team Lead supports daily program operations by ensuring staff ratios, program safety measures, operational procedures, and licensing requirements are being followed at all times. This position provides guidance, direction, coaching, and support to staff within the classroom environment and assists with maintaining a positive, safe, organized, and culturally grounded learning environment for children and families. The Team Lead works closely with the Director of Early Learning Program, program staff, volunteers, and student placements to support operational consistency, staff support, and quality programming. Operational, staffing, safety, or licensing concerns are escalated to the Director as required.

Requirements

  • Valid or in good standing ECE license to practice in BC and Infant Toddler certification from BC
  • High School Diploma and/or post-secondary education
  • Experience working directly with children, families, and staff teams.
  • Familiarity with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act, Child Care Licensing Regulation, and Aboriginal Head Start Program requirements.
  • Computer skills, including the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Skilled in the use of a variety of child teaching and reinforcement techniques.
  • Keen child observation skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to provide staff guidance, coaching, and support in a respectful and collaborative manner.
  • Ability to work in a team setting with co-workers and a variety of child specialists.
  • A strong personal interest and commitment to ALIB’s vision, mission and values.
  • First Aid / CPR level B
  • Food Safe Certification
  • Compliance with applicable legislative/policy requirements
  • Current Criminal Records Check with vulnerable sector clearance, with results acceptable to ALIB

Nice To Haves

  • Previous leadership or mentorship experience is an asset.
  • Knowledge of and previous work experience with First Nations Communities and Indigenous Cultures is a definite asset.

Responsibilities

  • Performs all duties and responsibilities in accordance with Adams Lake Indian Band policies and procedures.
  • Ensure all program safety measures are being met at all times.
  • Supports day-to-day program operations within assigned classroom/program area.
  • Ensures staff-to-child ratios are maintained at all times.
  • Provides guidance, direction, and support to staff during daily operations, transitions, routines, and programming activities.
  • Supports implementation of operational procedures, emergency protocols, care and supervision practices, and behaviour guidance expectations.
  • Assists with classroom coverage, staff breaks, and daily operational flow.
  • Supports onboarding and mentorship of new staff, students, and volunteers.
  • Provides updates and communicates operational concerns to the Director of Early Learning Program as required.
  • Supports staff in maintaining organized program environments, attendance records, and required daily documentation.
  • Works closely with program staff, volunteers, and student placements.
  • Participates in establishing a positive social atmosphere and role models positive interactions and behaviour management including observing, demonstrating, and reinforcing.
  • Delivers support and guidance to ensure programming enhances cognitive, physical, social, emotional, and cultural development of children.
  • Provides outreach services as required.
  • Other duties may include diapering, preparing and serving nutritious snacks, ensuring participants are dressed appropriately for indoor and outdoor activities, room set up and cleaning.
