Ability to ensure raw material is available and staged properly.
Ability to communicate with incoming Team Lead.
Ability to gather data for scrap review.
Ability to complete scrap review documentation.
Ability to complete production charts or boards.
Ability to review and sign off on 5S checklists.
Ability to set up the next shift for success.
Ability to review training progress.
Ability to ensure trainees feel welcome and comfortable.
Ability to review training guides.
Ability to ensure operators follow Standard Work.
Candidates will participate in a selection process that includes a record review of attendance/discipline, knowledge assessment/test and a panel interview.
A study guide will be provided to all candidates in advance to assist with preparation for the assessment.

Responsibilities

Support Team Members and Supervisor as an influential department leader.
Continuously improve performance in safety, quality, delivery, cost, and morale using continuous improvement problem-solving tools.
Improve team performance, not dedicated to specific machines.
Conduct pre-shift communication with shift leadership, understand staffing and priority products.
Populate assignment board or assist leadership.
Confirm Autonomous Maintenance Sheets are completed.
Assist in shift start-up and removing obstacles for timely start-up (material availability, setups).
Review previous days’ production metrics.
Cover absenteeism after exhausting other alternatives.
Engage in communication with each operator in the assigned area throughout the shift.
Review and sign off on Hour By Hour charts/production sheets for accuracy.
Visually check parts produced for conformance and measure parts where applicable.
Fill out required production charts or boards in the assigned area.
Ensure standard work is being followed.
Escalate issues (roadblocks, quality concerns, material delivery) to Supervisor.
Lead problem-solving initiatives as required.
Ensure shadow boards are properly stocked/maintained and items are placed within defined footprints.
Perform first piece approvals and/or setups where applicable.
Verify gauges have proper calibration stickers.
Assist operators when assistance is required or beneficial to sustain flow.
Ensure a safe, clean, and organized work environment is maintained (Quality and Safety audits).
Ensure raw material is available for the shift and staged properly.
Communicate with incoming Team Lead of the assigned area at the end of the shift.
Gather data for scrap review and ensure scrap review documentation is completed.
Complete production charts or boards for the assigned area.
Review orderliness of each operation area and sign off on 5S checklists.
Set up the next shift for success (order material, sequence orders, setups completed, etc.).
Review training progress throughout the day for operators in training.
Ensure trainees feel welcome and comfortable.
Review training guides.
Ensure operators follow Standard Work.
