About The Position

The Team Lead, Data Engineering at Avanquest is responsible for mentoring the data engineering team to ensure the efficient processing and management of data across various platforms. This role involves coordinating with other departments to align tactical solutions, ensuring data integrity, and optimizing data workflows. The Team Lead will also be responsible for mentoring team members, supporting the professional growth of them, fostering a collaborative environment, and driving innovation in data solutions. This position requires a deep understanding of data engineering principles, as well as the ability to manage projects and communicate effectively with stakeholders.

Requirements

• 5 years of experience in Data engineering.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
• Strong problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication abilities
• Deep understanding of data architecture and ETL processes
• Commitment to staying up to date with industry trends
• Proven track record of sharing expertise and collaborating with teams
• Proficiency in data processing languages such as SQL and Python
• Experience with Databricks

Nice To Haves

• Familiarity with data visualization tools (an asset)

Responsibilities

• Mentoring the data engineering team, providing guidance and support to team members, fostering a culture of engineering excellence.
• Develop and implement data engineering strategies that align with business goals.
• Ensure data integrity and security across all data platforms.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate data solutions into business processes.
• Designing and overseeing the implementation of data pipelines, ETL/ELT processes, and data warehouse/lakehouse architectures.
• Optimize data workflows and processes for efficiency and scalability.
• Mentor and train team members to enhance their skills and knowledge.
• Driving the adoption of modern data stack tools, platforms (e.g., Databricks, dbt, Spark, cloud data warehouses) and data engineering practices.
• Contributing to capacity planning, sprint planning, and technical roadmap decisions
