About The Position

The New Zealand Consulate-General is seeking a proactive Team Administrator – Finance and Property to provide business administration support in a diverse and fast-paced working environment. This full-time, locally engaged position is based at the New Zealand Consulate-General in Los Angeles and is expected to commence in late September 2026 or soon after. The role focuses on providing general administrative support, with a particular emphasis on financial reporting and analysis, and effective management of property and assets to ensure the efficient and smooth running of the Consulate-General.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience in finance functions in an office environment.
  • Significant previous experience and knowledge of financial management and reporting.
  • Well-developed planning and organisational skills, including ability to prioritise tasks effectively and work under pressure.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a small team.
  • Integrity and initiative.
  • The right to work in the United States.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain an appropriate NZ Government Security clearance (preferred).

  • Tertiary qualification in business administration.

Responsibilities

  • Developing and tracking the Consulate-General’s budget, making payments, managing cash balances, and providing monthly financial reports.
  • Administering staff leave and salary payments.
  • Acting as the primary administrative contact between the Consulate-General and the US State Department for staff arrivals and departures, staff changes, ID cards, etc.
  • Administering the Consulate-General’s assets including the office, vehicles, Residence, equipment and furniture.
  • Assisting with property maintenance and purchases – scheduling, recording, and coordinating service providers.
  • Serving as the central point for IT problems at the Consulate-General and coordinating with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (MFAT) Service centre and external providers for resolution.
  • Performing additional administration duties across the Consulate-General.
