About The Position

Xavier University’s proposed College of Osteopathic Medicine (XUCOM) invites applications for a 12-month, non-tenure-track Chair of the Division of Pediatrics beginning Summer 2026. This is a senior academic leadership opportunity for an experienced physician-educator who is passionate about shaping the next generation of osteopathic physicians. This senior academic leadership role provides the opportunity to shape the Pediatrics division within a mission-driven osteopathic medical school at a Jesuit Catholic university. The Chair will lead curricular integration across preclinical and clinical phases, serve as Clinical Clerkship Director for third-year Pediatrics rotations, mentor faculty and students, and ensure divisional excellence in accreditation, assessment, and strategic planning. This is a 0.8 FTE academic appointment with Xavier University. The successful candidate is expected to maintain clinical privileges and provide patient care approximately one day per week within a partner health system.

Requirements

  • DO or MD degree.
  • Current AOA or ABMS board certification in Pediatrics.
  • Eligibility for unrestricted Ohio medical licensure.
  • Eligibility for clinical privileges at a partner health system.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive leadership experience in undergraduate or graduate medical education.
  • Minimum of 10 years of clinical practice experience in Pediatrics.
  • Experience mentoring faculty.
  • Experience with accreditation processes.
  • Experience developing assessment items for NBOME or NBME.
  • Budget management experience in an academic or healthcare setting.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development, delivery, and continuous improvement of Pediatrics curricular content across preclinical and clinical years.
  • Serve as Clinical Clerkship Director for third-year Pediatrics rotations.
  • Mentor and evaluate division faculty and medical students, including career advising and residency preparation.
  • Ensure divisional compliance with COCA accreditation standards and support institutional strategic initiatives.
  • Oversee divisional operations, including faculty workload distribution, committee assignments, and budget administration.
  • Contributing to teaching, scholarship, service, and student engagement activities in support of the College’s mission.
