About The Position

NY Tech’s College of Arts and Sciences seeks a full-time Teaching Assistant Professor, Mathematics, located at the New York City campus. The successful candidate is required to teach 21 credit hours during the academic year. Assigned courses include all pre-calculus and calculus service courses, as well as other advanced courses within the candidate's area of specialization. Additional responsibilities include participation in curriculum development and service to the Mathematics Department, including initiatives to reform pre-calculus and calculus courses through the implementation of active learning strategies designed to improve student retention and success.

Requirements

  • A doctoral degree in Mathematics Education / Mathematics / Applied Mathematics / Statistics from a Mathematics Department is required.
  • Prior teaching experience at a university.
  • Experience increasing student engagement in pre-calculus courses using active learning methods.
  • Experience in the development of teaching materials that promote active learning.
  • Ability to assist with the professional development of pre-calculus instructors.

Responsibilities

  • Teach 21 credit hours during the academic year.
  • Teach assigned courses including all pre-calculus and calculus service courses, as well as other advanced courses within the candidate's area of specialization.
