About The Position

The University of Windsor’s Odette School of Business seeks applications for a tenure-track Teaching Intensive position, at the rank of Assistant Professor, commencing as early as July 1, 2026. This hire aligns with the bold imperatives of the University of Windsor strategic plan, Aspire: Together for Tomorrow, ratified Spring 2023. Requirements

  • Have a PhD degree in accounting with at least five years’ experience working in a public accounting or governmental environment a senior managerial level; or a CPA with more than 15 years’ experience in public accounting at a senior managerial level
  • Fulfill professional requirements required to maintain their CPA designation
  • Have post-secondary teaching experience in accounting related courses at the university level
  • Have evidence of teaching effectiveness supported with independent evidence such as teaching awards/recognition, student surveys, unsolicited student feedback
  • Have the ability to teach financial accounting, taxation, auditing and information systems courses
  • Possess experience in leading and teaching CPA profession-developed audit and assurance courses
  • Have extensive current practical experience in accounting, auditing and taxation with private and public companies, including both for profit and not-for profit entities
  • Be computer literate with experience in using technology in professional accounting, audit and tax assignments, and familiarity with emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI)-driven solutions
  • Possess a strong and verifiable commitment to advancing Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, Belonging, and Reconciliation (EDIBR) through meaningful engagement and practice
  • Have strong communication skills in English
  • Have excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to work effectively with and consult with students, faculty, and staff from a variety of backgrounds in a professional and collaborative manner

Nice To Haves

  • Experience mentoring and teaching CPA students through the educational and professional certification process
  • Experience in case method teaching
  • Strong working knowledge of accounting, tax and audit software used in the accounting profession such as Tax Prep or Profile, Case Ware and Power BI
  • Demonstrated record of service to the community

Responsibilities

  • Teach up to 8 courses a year at the undergraduate or graduate level
  • Participate in service roles to support Odette’s accredited accounting programs
  • Maintain ongoing relevant practical experience in professional accounting
