About The Position

The Department of Human-Centered Computing and Social Informatics (HCCSI) in the College of Information Sciences and Technology (IST) at The Pennsylvania State University is seeking to fill two open-rank, non-tenure-line teaching faculty positions. These positions are term appointments with the possibility of renewal and are based at the University Park campus, with start dates in January or July of 2027. The roles require strong technical expertise in designing and developing AI-powered applications and interactive systems, a dedication to teaching diverse undergraduate and graduate students, and an interest in curriculum innovation. The primary focus will be teaching in-person undergraduate and graduate courses, with university service also expected. Candidates should be able to teach students how to integrate AI models into software systems, build robust and usable AI applications, and develop the technical and critical judgment for responsible AI system development. While expertise in developing AI/ML models is not strictly required, it is considered a plus.
