About The Position

The Department of Statistics at UW–Madison seeks passionate, experienced instructors to join a growing team focused on high-quality teaching, supporting modern data science degree programs, and driving curriculum innovation. The role involves managing course instruction, assessing student performance, assisting with curriculum development, and serving as the primary academic contact for students. This is a 100% Academic Staff appointment, with salary assigned within the appropriate range based on qualifications and experience.

Requirements

At least one year of work experience in an educational, research, or industry setting.
Strong organizational skills.
Ability to meet tight deadlines.
A high degree of initiative.
Proven ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively.
Master’s degree required.

Nice To Haves

At least one year of experience teaching at the college or university level.
Excellent teaching, interpersonal, teamwork, and communication skills.
PhD preferred.

Responsibilities

Develop teaching techniques that enhance course effectiveness in alignment with desired outcomes and established strategy.
Supervise day-to-day activities of work unit employees involved in instructional support, as needed.
Assist in defining program objectives and play a major role in carrying out program duties.
Assist in developing techniques and model programs for instructional goals in the disciplinary area, and help identify how new techniques could assist.
Assess learner performance and prepare reports recommending instructional improvements.
Provide classroom, online, and/or laboratory instruction, including grading.
Manage course instruction, assist with curriculum development, and serve as the primary academic contact for students.
