The Department of Languages, Literatures, and Cultures in the School of Arts and Sciences at the University of Richmond invites applications for the position of Teaching Faculty of Italian Studies and Director of the Italian Intensive Language Program, to begin in the 2027-2028 academic year. This is a full-time, non-tenure-track, continuing position with benefits. The position includes opportunities for promotion to Senior Teaching Faculty after successful completion of a probationary period and triennial review. We seek a colleague who shares our commitment to student-centered, inclusive undergraduate education. The ideal candidate will also have an interest in supporting student professional development and career readiness. Our department values innovation in teaching, faculty collaboration, cross-disciplinary connections, and inclusive pedagogical practices that respond creatively to the rich diversity of our students’ backgrounds, interests, goals, and experiences. The successful candidate will teach the equivalent of seven classes per academic year, primarily in the intensive language sequence, with opportunities to teach one upper-level course per academic year. Directorship responsibilities will include coordinating language and drill instructors, administering the language curriculum for the beginning and intermediate levels, developing language materials and teaching methods, and overseeing the Italian Club and other extracurricular activities for majors and minors. There will also be opportunities to mentor undergraduate research.
