About The Position

William James College is seeking full-time Teaching Faculty Fellows for the Counseling and Behavioral Health Department, beginning August 2026. This fellowship is designed to recruit, train, and mentor recent doctoral graduates in counseling-related fields. The program aims to cultivate a diverse cohort of faculty equipped with skills for inclusive teaching, advising, research, and academic leadership. Fellows will engage in teaching, advising, and research supervision of graduate students, participate in didactic training on inclusive pedagogy and culturally empowering strategies, and actively engage in professional development and scholarly activities. Mentorship will be provided throughout the program. Special interest is given to candidates with a background or interest in working with children, adolescents, and families, and those focused on behavioral health equity for underserved communities. Fellows may teach foundational courses in the department.

Requirements

Recent graduates or early career professionals with doctoral degrees in Counselor Education and Supervision, Counseling Psychology, or Clinical Psychology (with a Master’s degree in Counseling).
Doctoral degree expected by August 2026.
If doctoral degree is in Clinical or Counseling Psychology, must have completed an APA accredited internship.
If doctoral degree is in Clinical Psychology, must have a Master’s degree in Counseling.
Degrees earned within the past 10 years (through August 2026).
Teaching and clinical experience.
Licensed or license-eligible in Massachusetts as a Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) or as a Psychologist/Health Services Provider.
Demonstrated commitment to promoting diversity, inclusion, and multicultural competence in an educational and work environment.
Willingness to contribute to the College’s strategic plan of inclusion.
Must be authorized to work in the United States at the time of hire.
Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position.

Nice To Haves

Doctoral degree in Counselor Education from a CACREP accredited program preferred.
Doctoral degree in counseling or related area with at least one-year full time teaching experience in a graduate counseling program prior to July 1, 2013.

Responsibilities

Teaching, advising, and research supervision of graduate students.
Participating in didactic training on inclusive teaching and learning designs, strength-based pedagogical approaches, and culturally empowering instructional strategies.
Actively engaging in professional development, scholarly, and program evaluation activities.
Receiving faculty and peer mentorship.
Teaching generalist foundational courses in the Counseling and Behavioral Health Department.
