This position will be responsible for delivering the undergraduate research sequence of EP 468, EP 469, EP 568, EP 569 as part of the community building process for the Engineering Physics major. These courses meet once a week with coordinated instructional activities. EP 468: INTRODUCTION TO ENGINEERING RESEARCH An introduction to the conduct of engineering research: the scientific method, ethics in research, documentation and treatment of research data, publication practices and the structure of the broader research community are covered. EP 469: RESEARCH PROPOSAL IN ENGINEERING PHYSICS An introduction to current research topics in Engineering Physics. Development of an undergraduate research proposal supervised by faculty members. Open to EP majors only. EP 568: RESEARCH PRACTICUM IN ENGINEERING PHYSICS Undergraduate research projects supervised by faculty members. EP 569: RESEARCH PRACTICUM IN ENGINEERING PHYSICS II Undergraduate research supervised by faculty members. Senior thesis. Successful candidates will be expected to use established course curriculum and materials to provide instruction to students enrolled in the EP research sequence. In addition to the instruction of EP 468/469/568/569 research sequence, the individual will be responsible for: meeting with students to assess/assist course progress and to provide advice and guidance when needed; helping students identify potential faculty PIs with aligned research interests; overseeing the research progress of all EP students; and working with the Associate Chair for Undergraduate Studies to complete the annual program assessment.
