About The Position

The Department of Human Communication Studies at CSU Fullerton invites applications for the position of Teaching Associate. This is a pool position for well-qualified graduate students who will be assigned Teaching Associate duties up to a maximum of 20 hours per week. Teaching Associates will work under the direct supervision of a faculty member in courses such as Public Speaking, Introduction to Communication Studies, Essentials of Argumentation, and Forensics (speech and debate). Responsibilities include regular meetings with the lab coordinator, lecturing, grading, holding office hours, and other assigned duties. Assignments are temporary and often made just prior to the start of the academic term, with potential for very short notice. This position is part of a pool from which the department draws as necessary.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Communication Studies or related field or equivalent experience.
  • Must be a currently enrolled graduate student in the Department of Human Communications Studies with a GPA of 3.20 or better.
  • Demonstrate ability to interact and work effectively with a wide and culturally diverse range of students, including first-generation college students.
  • Coursework or prior teaching experience in the particular course topic.
