About The Position

California State University, San Bernardino (CSUSB) is seeking candidates for a Teaching Associate Pool within the Department of Health Science Teaching. The Lab Teaching Assistant (TA) will provide instructional support to faculty and students in a laboratory setting, assisting in the preparation, execution, and evaluation of laboratory sessions for undergraduate courses. This role requires time in a laboratory setting, handling materials and equipment, and may involve standing for extended periods and occasional lifting. Hours are approximately 10-20 per week, depending on course and departmental needs.

• Ability to manage time and multitask in a dynamic learning environment.
• Shadow all HSCI 1200 labs one term before starting to teach the lab.

Responsibilities

• Conducting laboratory sessions, including demonstrating techniques and procedures.
• Provide guidance and support to students during lab activities to help them understand course concepts.
• Answer questions, troubleshoot problems, and clarify instructions related to experiments.
• Enforce safety protocols and ensure students follow proper procedures to maintain a safe working environment.
• Handle hazardous materials and chemicals according to safety guidelines.
• Report any safety incidents or equipment malfunctions to the instructor or lab supervisor.
• Grading lab reports, quizzes, or assignments as directed by the instructor.
• Provide constructive feedback to students to help improve their performance.
• Track student attendance and participation during lab sessions.
• Record and maintain accurate data related to experiments and results.
• Participate in departmental meetings and training sessions as required.
• Act as a bridge between students and the MPH program, representing student interests, voicing concerns, gathering feedback, and communicating information between students and program administration.
